  1. Considering I did it last year... New FFL07 license application. New SOT 02 if you want to give up your FFL01 or just pay for one SOT. If you give up the SOT for the FFL01, whether you keep the 01 or not.. The NFA stuff transfers to the FFL07/02 because SOT is linked to the EIN rather than the license. No need to do a Form 3. Hope that helps.
  2. If I recall correctly, it was the barrel size that made it a DD. so stupid..
  3. If you need to unload then the maglula wins out. It unloads one round at a time with a flick of a switch.. But I like unloading them through the ejection port.
  4. I use the Striplula for 10rd striper clips but you can manually add 10 in by itself. Other one I use more is the promag 5rd loader. Drop 5rds in a slot and use your palm to shove it in. https://www.classicfirearms.com/accessories/mags-drums/speed-loaders/223_5.56/ For ak I use the maglula, 1rd at a time.
  5. Good job.. But if the guy was skilled they could photoshop that stuff. Usually a strange position or photo of a spot that isn't normally posted on websites of the item works too.
  6. I was looking at the new Magpul DAKA case where it has changeable configuration.. I thought it looked stange and ugly but then I realized I have a 3d printer and could make covers that fit over the configuration of those DAKA parts and have openings for the firearms. I suppose I could 3d print the Daka parts too..
  7. FFL in WA can have MGs under their business. Getting post samples with law letters from WA CLEO are denied.possibly it off state law letters might still work but ATF is currently checking the depts where those letterheads come from.
  8. Any Braces.. Doesn't matter if it was on a Glock or some other firearm. I'm wondering if you had a CAA kit for the Glock.. Can you register it on a Form 1. Also didn't read anything yet about needing to engrave your "pistol" but I'm assuming you have to do that since that is the normal process.
  9. I expect in 60 days ATF is going to be flooded with Form 1 assuming they keep with the amnesty thing. Buddy of mine made a funny question which was do you get a tax stamp if you don't pay for anything. I still need to catch up and read up on this stuff. Admittedly the brace was a loophole.. But they approved it. Not surprising ATF flip flopping.
  10. I would say keep the upper for when you want to sell it so your paperwork would match. You can fill out forms to update the configuration.. but I wouldn't bother. As Spartan mentioned, Machinegun trumps.. meaning that you can put a short barrel on it legally since the machine gun trumps over SBRs. BTW another reason why you want to keep that upper.. is so you can sell it as a M16A1. Having a 11.5" sold with it likely won't reduce the amount you can sell it for.. but it might appeal to less people who want original stuff. IMHO.
  11. I am doubting that this will happen. If it does.. I'll be sending forms in.
  12. I don't believe it is different.. which really SUCKS. I'm still waiting for an approval for a customer/friend.
  13. I believe they are staked once in position, at least the one I have.
  14. Depends on your skill set.. a machinist might say it isn't difficult, while a guy at home with a dremel would say it is. I don't believe it should be difficult if you know how to weld some metal to the bolt to trip the rate reducer and add a sear trip.
  15. DHL has messed up every package. I even got a huge package for someone 10 miles away.. I avoid them if I can.
  16. That conversion must have been many many many moons ago too. I wanted M60 Joe to work on mine.. but the company he recommended costed too much and they even recommended not to do it unless something gets damage/crack. This was my solution.. Not perfect but it works. Can be a pain sometimes.
  17. You should post their email and address so in case they don't call themselves David..
  18. Hard Times Armory conversion? Yeah.. crazy how much prices went up. I wish I had bought more ahead of time!
  19. There are a lot of FFL 07's that don't know what the hell they are doing.. but people have to start somewhere.
  20. Letters that are mention are letterhead letters from Chief Law Enforcement Officer (CLEO) or Military requesting demonstration of specific MGs. FFL 01 are Dealers. They need to get a SOT 03. They can buy transferrables, premay ( also called pre86) MGs without a letter. Post MG they have to get a letter from the CLEO or military of the specific machinegun. This includes needing a a letter even though the post MG has no requirement of a letter. They can not manufacturer their own MGs since they are a dealer. They can deal with other NFA items like silencer, SBR, SBS, AOW, etc. FFL07 are Manufacturers. They pretty much have all the rights of a FFL01 but more. They need to get a SOT 02. They can buy transferable, premays, and post no law letter MG (MG that came from FFLs that gave up their SOT or shutdown). They do need letters to buy a post MG from a manufacturer or MGs from other FFLs that have demo letter MG. They can manufacture their own MG and sell them to LEO / MIL / FFLs with letters. Note SOT means Special Occupational Tax.
  21. I think that is his point.. they want to force FFLs out of business. At least the small guys. However that would have to go against a letter they put out a while back on who they believe should or shouldn't do. Fortunately they don't have control over forcing us at the moment. Now stopping the practice of cancelling the SOT and restarting it is a legit thing they can do to stop the practice of selling no law letter post firearms..
  22. Just thought to mention that if it is NFA item it takes time.. credit card won't save you unless you get it within the time frame for chargeback. I think all of my purchases was some type of fund transfer. If I were selling any of my NFA items I would require some type of payment that is not a credit card since I've been burned where the customer did a chargeback, but fortunately it a $100 item rather than a $1000+ item. You did what you needed to do.. contact the dealer who is selling and found out about the fraud. Good job.
