  1. If you're paranoid then go with a cashiers check only. As others have stated it's as good as cash. You're "obviously" going to cash it and get your money "before" you ship the firearm so I don't really see what the hesitation would be. Like Ebenezer Scrooge said..."I don't ship...until I have the cash in hand!!!"
  2. Yes, I was looking at the USPS site for registered mail because it's the most secure here https://about.usps.com/postal-bulletin/2008/html/pb22247/html/not123_063.html#wwfootnote_inline_ep196 It specifically states Fees for articles valued over $25,000 are for handling only. Maximum amount of insurance coverage available is $25,000. Not sure what "handling only" means, pretty confusing.
  3. I recall reading a thread (it may have been here) regarding the legality's and best methods for shipping Title II Firearms. The gist was that many carriers FedEx, UPS etc are woke/anti gun and would not honor covering a lost or stolen package if it was determined to be a machine gun. Like many here, I've always used USPS registered mail as it seems to be the most secure with every person that comes into contact with the package having to sign for it and it's locked in a cage every step of the way. Looking at the USPS website today, it shows the max insurance for registered mail to be 25k. You can pay additional moneys for items worth more, but it's labeled as a "handling fee" and clearly states in bold that the max insurance coverage is $25,000.00 Many NFA items are well about that mark today so are you taking a risk one way or the other shipping these expensive guns with UPS and USPS?
  4. Yes, it makes sense on paper but what about in the real world when someone actually comes after you with a high power attorney and public scrutiny on their side. Once again, are they just going to go away once they realize they can't get blood from a stone out of your business and you simply dissolve your LLC and pop up next week as something else OR do they switch gears and go after Mr. Uzi personally because he has a nice house, fancy cars and other cool stuff that is worth something to them and their client. People speak about the LLC like it's sun to a vampire = lawyer, but I'm really curious if it's really all that effective in the real world for a small business owner or kitchen table firearms dealer.
  5. If something is wrong with the gun and it won't disassemble correctly, why would you beat it apart, beat it back together, fire it and then call to complain. The minute the gun wouldn't disassemble is when the call should have been made and photos/video sent IMO.
  6. What are the "real world" advantages regarding LLC, S-Corp etc. in exchange for all the extra BS and paperwork for a business owner? I know they tout this or that on paper, but when the rubber meets the road and some sleaze ball attorney figures out that your business assets aren't much and that there's much more to be had by going after you personally in a civil suit....what exactly stops them from doing just that? This type of stuff is happening all the time. They go after a business and if there's more to be had then the civil suits start. I'm really wondering if these legal business entities are nothing more than paper tigers when it comes to the average Joe vice a major corporation that hides behind multiple front company's and corporations and has an office full of their own sleazeball attorney's.
  7. Very cool...thanks for sharing. Swap the wood stock with synthetic and that is the exact gun (M240G) that I carried in the Green Machine During Infantry School in late 1994 the USMC Medium GPMG was still the M60E3, but we were shown a M240 at the Armory Once by the SNCOIC of the Machine Gunners School and told we would eventually be seeing it in the fleet As things turned out, I ended up a Machine Gunner in 3rd Mar Div which was the first Infantry Unit in the FMF that field tested and transitioned to the M240G which replaced our aging (falling apart) M60E3's I've never discussed any of this before, but could probably do another thread if anybody is interested in the history.
  8. That is some cool history/documentation It's quite nauseating to look at what this stuff originally cost I know it's off topic, but was the FN MAG58 (now the U.S. M240) being imported and available for purchase back then as well?
  9. A board member here that I've done business with in the past was a SOT well before the ban and he told me that the SACO M60's were $2500.00 Being readily available, nobody really gave them much thought as $2500.00 was still a nice chunk of change in 85 A decade passed and everybody wished they had bought a dozen and put them away Same for M16's...what were they $700.00 bucks all day long in 85?
  10. No response once I asked for the photos with name and date. The spider sense was tingling from the start on this, but you never know. We all started out new on the boards at some point. Due diligence saves the day again. Thanks fella's
  11. Andrew Vovou out of SC? andrewvouvou@yahoo.com New member, joined back in September 2022 with no posts or feedback. He responded to a WTB ad I recently placed, but unfortunately has no feedback here or any other board. He e-mailed me a copy of a SC drivers license once I asked for a reference, but it doesn't really mean much if it's stolen or faked. I've followed up and asked for a new photo of the items along side a piece of paper with today's date and his handle here. TIA
