Early HK MP5

Just got a Pre Sample HK MP5 .

this is a early gun 9/73 date

No date code says made exclusively for Saco Arl. Va.

Finish is a dull Gray almost like parkerized.

Serial number does not have a pre-fix.

My question is would this be the factory finish?

Yes, maybe, no.  One of those answers would be correct. :D

Photos would be more helpful. There's no way we can tell if it's original factory finish without see it.. even then a quality job might be difficult to tell.

Probably factory--- would need to see pictures in natural lighting.

Sounds like it is in the 87XXX range.

PM to you.

PM received--- thanks.

Appears to be correct--- factory MP5's that I have seen (1966-1973) were parkerized, while 1974+ were paint over parkerization.

The various paint shades included shiny black (1974-1976), blue-gray (1976-1983), "matte" black (1984-1988), and "deep" NATO black (1989+).
