Dean
So I have my registered kit in my new host. Went down to pick up the ammo I ordered and the gunsmith said I better not run the flat bolt that came with the NPM host. He said it will break. Is this true and if so will I be safe to shoot tomorrow at the range? Thanks
GUNBUGS
So they say. I ran a flat bolt in my conversion for several years before I went to a round bolt. I've heard rumors of flat bolts breaking, but no one has ever posted a photo or told that story that I have seen. I'd run it til I got a round bolt. I think you'll be OK. KickStand
I’ve run both WITHOUT issue. I think round bolt is slightly slower though, which is nice. Edited April 21 by KickStand

MPFiveO
I think the round bolt slows the rate of fire slightly. I don't see how it could be any stronger because the lugs are the same on both bolts. I've seen several M2's with flat bolts and they ran fine. I'm not sure you could really tell a difference in cyclic rate. Not enough weight difference like a Lage slow fire upper on the M11/9.
