  1. Thanks for the responses guys. I figured my Browning BLR in .450 Marlin needed a companion pistol. Probably was not a good idea, but we'll give it a whirl. I have Desert Eagle in .50 A&E, which I can shoot with no issues. I have a feeling this one's gonna hurt a bit more. When you start running out of stuff to do cause you already did it... this is the kind of stuff you do. Gonna brave a shot or two today. R.L.
  2. Just picked one up from Elk County Ammo and Arms. Good folks too, Got this thing in 2 days! Excellent customer service. Anywho...this thing is chambered in .450 Marlin so it should be pretty interesting first time out to shoot it. Watched a few videos on Hickok 45. SINGLE HANDING this beast. Don't think I'll try that. I'll be happy if I can just hang on to it. Hope you guys are having a fun Labor Day weekend. Cheers, R.L,
  3. ANY seller on this board who misrepresents ANYTHING they sell here SHOULD BE BANNED FOR LIFE FROM THIS VENUE! Your word and reputation is all you have in this life. Scammers, liars and scum bags don't belong on this site. Of course this is only my opinion, your mileage may vary. R.L.
  4. I just received an email from Hornady that confirms production of .444 and .450 Marlin brass will begin in December 2022. Loaded ammo will show up on shelves around January or February 2023. The ammo pirates on gunbroker that are charging $6+ a round for this ammo can take their ammo and put it in a most uncomfortable place. I'll be waiting for new ammo to arrive straight from Hornady. Cheers, R.L.
  5. Never mind I just read a bit more in reviews....absolute scammers!!! WTF...this hobby has become infected with worthless miscreants!!! STAY AWAY!! R.L.
  6. Are these guys good guys to do biz with? They have a weapon I want, but price seems too good to be true. Yea I know, and it probably is. But gotta check it out. Thanks, R.L.
  7. a little anyway.Walmart in Skowhegan has multiple HP rifle calibers , lots of shotgun ammo and lots of .22 lr. Oh yea, FYI... Walmart up here in the great North STILL sells firearms in their stores! Most other on-line suppliers have ammo for sale, but still priced higher than pre-covid times. I'm finding primers now too. Plenty of powder. Still not much unprimed brass yet, or at least not much in the calibers I need. Certainly is not 100% but much better than this time last year. Ya'll having any luck finding stuff? Sure could use some .450 Marlin brass or ammo. R.L.
  8. Yep, Darwin is a solid guy. I did some business with him way back in the 80's that were 100%. R.L.
  9. Ammo Depot Ma. They have had 2 different phone numbers I know of. They only communicate by text. The phone numbers listed do not work. they accept payment by Zelle only. payable to someone named "Darrel". I wonder if his other 2 brothers are named Darrel too? Prices are way too good to be real. BBB rated "F". These scum fxcks have scammed lots of folks online looking for hard to find calibers. Check out BBB complaints. and Ripoff reports. Too funny..... the scam detector site says they are 100% legit which is total b.s. These maggots are CROOKS!!! Remember folks if a deal seems to be too good to be true, it probably is. R.L.
  10. Owner of Optics and Ammo located in Texas. What a POS! This guy allegedly scammed 1000+ people online for products he allegedly never intended to ship! Vortex lit him up with a multi million dollar suit, for scamming people on Vortex products, he never was authorized to sell. Was searching for his trial proceeding and sentencing, could not find anything. If anyone knows the outcome to this scum bag's trial, please post it. R.L.
  11. Any bullet weight is fine. Email me with what you have and what you want for it. R.L.
  12. I know I sure as hell do! I just pulled out some of the last 1/2" AR 500 targets I bought from them years ago at bargain basement prices. Plasma cut perimeter and bolt holes, they last forever. Took me a couple of years of repeated strikes in the center, to knock a hole in one of the 10" rounds with monolithic solids in my Barrett .416. R.L.
  13. The butt plugs at ATF, you know, the same ones who went door to door in some states ILLEGALLY to check on legally owned firearms. Yea those same assholes. Well seems they have created new regs for shipping firearms. ALL firearms must include the serial numbers now in the manifest, or they will not ship. A perfect time for someone to start a new delivery service for firearms only. R.L.
  14. TFF!!!! POS ATF jack boot butt plugs are going door to door in some states claiming they need to see your firearms. WTF?? No warrants and Illegal as hell of course . Check out the General Dispatch video on Whatfinger today to watch the comical video. A guy they pulled this crap on called told them to wait a minute he'd go get his guns, he then called local PD and they put this jackwad on the sidewalk in cuffs!!! I'M A FEDERAL AGENT, whining like a little BITCH!!! YEA for local PD protecting the rights of AMERICANS!!!!!!!!!!!! ESAD ATF. Name of clip is cops vs fed Salty Bites/Salty Cracker Cheers, R.L.
  15. The animals he engraved looked like they were alive. I consider it an honor to have known the man. Seems like a lifetime ago. I was a kid, he was a young man. Tempus fugit....like it or not. Cheers, Bob
  16. No response from "Jim or "dad" as of 11:19 est. At this point I'm lost on who is who in this mystery. Is Jim the dad or is it just Jim pretending to be ":dad" when there was no dad all along? Anyway, I hope you get some resolution in this convoluted affair! Would love to know sometime how this all shakes out. Cheers, R.L.
  17. Emaill sent to Jim at 7:20 est. Same addy as you were using. I'll let you know as soon as I hear back, or not. R.L.
  18. Thanks for the update. I'll email condolences to Jim tonight. Can't promise, but I'll see if I can get some info on this barrel issue too. Cheers, R.L. R.L.
  19. Not sure if this is the same guy, but the James Bishop I know was AKA "Artemis" on the Snub-guns boards, and has been around this community forever. I last conversed with him via email in 2017 around the time snub-guns was sold by Bowers. We exchanged email for hours. I believe he's a few years older than I am, so it's very possible he may have passed on, like guys my age do every day. Reputation is a work in progress. Your rep is only as good as your last deal. He never impressed me as being a thief, but certainly that doesn't mean a thing since I've not spoken to him in years. I've never heard of him ripping off anyone in the past, and I've been around this community a long time. Hope you get some resolution soon. If you find get resolution or info about James, please post it here. I'd like to know if he's still ok. Cheers, R.L.
  20. I have one, it's new, but black. Email me if ur interested. Cheers, R.L.
  21. While putting a scope on my new Anschutz rifle yesterday, I thought how nice it would be to have engraving on this rifle.. My thoughts then turned to a man I knew decades ago who was probably the most accomplished engraver I ever knew. His name was Franz Marktl. The name probably means nothing to most of you unless you were living in Northern Va. in 1970. I fortunately did live there at that time. As a young man living in Arlington, Va in the early 70's, I spent most of my time and income (unfortunately) at Davis gun Shop, in Falls Church, Va. I loved guns and everything gun related. Guns and good gun people were my life, as it is to this day! Davis Gun Shop is where the life journey for Franz and s few of us began. I digress. Fred Davis was an affable, quiet man. He had one of the finest German luger collections in the country. His gunsmithing skills were legendary. He rebuilt a custom 22./250 with an L579 Sako action, Hart stainless bull barrel, Reinhart Fagen stock and Canjar single set trigger. I had this originally made by another so called gunsmith in my area, who will remain un-named. Fred turned his amateurish work into near perfection. Many a groundhog fell in Purcellville, Va to that weapon. In 1970 Fred took in a young Austrian immigrant named Franz Marktl on a B1 visa and apprenticed him at his shop. Franz was already an accomplished engraver starting as an apprentice at the age of 14 in Austria, but he was new to the US and the engraving/gun world here in the US. How that would change. Franz's work was absolute perfection, engraving in the old Teutonic style. It didn't take long for people to notice. People waited years to get on his work list at Davis gun shop. Gun owners from all over the US and the world now commissioned Franz's work. Over the years kings, queens and heads of state commissioned Franz to do engraving work for him. His skills had become legendary. I lost contact with Franz, as life happens with most of us. Wives, children, employment etc. Time to time would think of those years back in the early 70's at Davis Gun shop and Franz. Last I heard he had moved back to Austria, then to Arizona. I had this overwhelming feeling to check up on my old friend the other night. Much to my dismay, I discovered Franz had passed away last year. I did not hear how. Very sad non the less. The world has lost one of the last true old world craftsman. God speed my friend. R.L.
  22. They use both names. First red flag. Their prices seem too good to be true. 2nd red flag. The only address listed is San Diego Kalifornia, no physical address. 3rd red flag. Lots of blah, blah blah nonsense on their webpage. Never heard of these guys. Could be legit, but smells funny to me. Anyone know what's up with these guys? Legit? Yes? No? Cheers, R.L.
  23. Murphy Precision. Cameron Murphy. Very nice guy who manufactures quality American products. Just had a custom Stainless picatinny mount made for my Anschutz 1773E. Communication is fast and personal. Cameron answers his own mail, and usually returns an email in 24 hr's. Check out his products. murphyprecision.com Cheers, R.L.
