M60 Adapter for the M192 Tripod - Informational Post

Our fellow Texan board members @Martin Seidler and David A came up with this idea and I wanted to throw up a post up about it because it is a good simple idea...... The M192 Tripod, for those of you who have not used them, is a very nice lightweight / compact tripod that has an internal T&E mechanism built into it...Making it very easy to take to the range... The problem is that it only accepts the M240 and M249.

Marty and David came up with this simple drop on adapter shown below to allow the M60 to be mounted on it........ They used a fixed elevation M60 Platform mount (which was originally designed for the Mk64)... These platforms are inexpensive and easy to find ... We have some in stock here: M60 Platform Mounts - BeltFeds.Com, LLC ...... The pintle is then cut off the bottom and the platform is welded directly to the flat steel adapter, which has a bushing on each end that the cradle pins go through....

May sound like a lot of work, but it is not...... A simple solution for any of you guys wanting to run a 60 on an M192 or just want another mounting solution for your gun....

Thanks Marty and Dave for sharing this with us ..... Side note, these platform mounts are also nice for working on the M60. They clamp into a vice perfectly and hold the gun in place. Which is important for jobs such as changing out rear sights etc.
