  1. ONCE the form is approved it still has to get through the "pile" to be signed. (sigh) They tell me, I have 2 transfers that are approved and in limbo for the supervisor to sign I would think the same is true for ALL approvals "e-form " or not. Let us know where this go's when you get an answer PLEASE!
  2. sorry but I just cant see the value or use of all this " remarking" stamping FALSE info etc. who exactly are we kidding? its still the same darned thing no mater WHAT it says. I know its been an accepted practice since VOLMER started it and its your money, if it makes you feel good who am I . just remember a $10 crack whore with a bath and clean clothes is still NOTHING MORE. when these things were cheap and nobody paid attention, it was common to spend days with semi chrome and cold blue getting rid of surface stains. many times undetectable, yet some one with a table full of these "clones" would pass out at the mention today?? I left my SP89 alone after the stock but would do the 3 lug if I wanted to suppress it . terry's work is fantastic you cant go wrong there for sure. MOST important, I believe ATF will jump all over these re-stamped hosts when not marked by the "manufacturer" and logged as such in the books. now days Vickers Mk1 has to be removed from a form 4 unless its stamped on the receiver??
  3. SPRAT, you just graduated from basic training! whats next? cheers mike

  5. the MAJOR issue's are the "new examiners" it was explained to me off the record that because of the training procedure "ALL TRANSFERS ARE BEING TRACED BACK AS FAR AS THE RECORDS ALLOW" because of this several C+R's and guns that had been classed as transferables are being reclassified. I know first hand that they are demanding some be surrendered with no other options. I had a form 3 take almost 1 year? and have had to submit pictures several times for the same item so they may determine its status. not sure where the fine tune requirements came from but the training issue is understandable. it seems to be clearing up as many of my recent submissions have already been approved. I have nothing but POSITVE RESPECT for everyone at martinsburg. may not help your case but you are certainly NOT ALONE! cheers mike
  6. The KNIGHTS .45 suppressor as sold to the navy and marines is what I'm looking for. I bought one of the SR 25 .308 packages with suppressor that was returned to them as a trade in, and thought it will fit right in. I would like to add an original example to the collection. I have a couple HK socoms but would buy a package if need be. THANX MIKE
  7. THE transfer for my German Luftwaffe belt fed madsen finally was approved and I have it in hand for specs etc. I'm told a few parts kits were running the circuit and may still be out there. The example I have is transferable, are there any samples ANYWHERE ? Sarco has drums but that's all I have found so far. If you are holding a kit for speculation, NOW 's the time I will let you be unreasonable and glad of it! I think the links are hopeless in the U.S.. They look like the browning but have 2 small additional holes in a flat tab for the feed cog. If anyone knows of another live gun, please let me know. Also I cant find ANYTHING published that even mentions this thing. LEADS? THANKS MIKE
  8. In small quantity .06 / .05 seems to be the norm. Large orders can be almost half that still plenty around and some can be quite anxious to move them. shipping is the major factor. cheers mike
  9. the C+R 'S only function was to allow him to receive arms in that category direct! IT HAS NO FUNCTION FOR REGISTRATION OR OWNERSHIP! once the lic expires its function is FINISHED! if he sells ANYTHING that was acquired with that license and he still has a valid lic, he would enter the buyers info in the disposition area. IF his lic is expired, everything he owns is exactly like ANY OTHER PRIVATELY HELD FIREARM and they would be treated as such along with required legal caveats . BOTTOM LINE ? once the lic expires , its like it NEVER EXISTED as its function has ceased.
  10. remember we were talking SELECT FIRE light rifle , not a SHORT RANGE target gun. I not on the BM-59 band wagon , but it is a VERY reasonable entry class 4 weapon that will give dependable service, IS VERY COMFORTABLE in semi mode and original mags are common at $60 and less ea. the Nigerian pistol grip stock is out there for about the same as an m-14 e2 stock. I also LIKE the FAL , while it will cause more discomfort after a full days shooting , parts are easy and still reasonable. At the recent "big auction houses" I acquired 3 different transferable BM-59'S for less than $30K even with the buy prem. the price made me do it. I had like most ignored them totally and the shoot very well . that's my 2 cents on the subject mike
  11. GUN SHOWS STILL WORK BUT REQUIRE A LOT OF EFFORT! there are some tricks that few get a handle on. first and foremost you must present yourself as the exception and not just another "pawnshop" "small dealer with a BLUE BOOK as the BIBLE". NEXT you want to attend the same venue at the SAME location more than once. attendee's get numb to the same ol same ol approach and look forward to someone inviting. resist the attempt to look like a commercial operation and BE FRIENDLY!! IT seems like the only variable at the shows is the ability to grade whats being offered , since the blue book landed , every like item has the same ask price no matter the grade. try to avoid it otherwise the auction house's are the only option for complete liquidation. many times they will exceed street value and retail with final hammer. my failing health has prevented my participation at shows and they were the high points for me along with the organized shoots. give it a try mike
  12. Found another can in the hoard original NAZI marked $75 ea round, not NAZI marked $60. all plus actual shipping . void where prohibited (you know who you are) signed statement required with copy of drivers lic. cheers mike
  13. YES, we "oldsters" are going to die, but many like myself , got tired of all the greed and shenanigans and just gave them all away to deserving "youngsters" and they will never see the market. hell i just paid $25k for a 30/06 colt Vickers and gave it away. TRY TO SELL SOMETHING? and the picture collectors will make you want to play the CRIS WALKEN game with a revolver MOW! i still post one now and again for a few laughs MSTRMSTR, i have some C+R'S and some beltfeds that are not spoken for if your serious drop me a private email cheers mike
  14. IF you like rubber suits and "cats o nine tails" you might be okay. i had a select fire when the semis were cheep and couldn't keep a stock on it. Its been a while , but seems like it broke something every time it went out. when i learned to johnsons paste wax the ammo and not get too wild , things got better but the wood never did. i even reinforced the butt with steel rods and glassed it. but who wants a black svt40? i still have a large graveyard of barreled recievers somewhere. want a light rifle MG? you can still get a FACTORY BM-59 select fire for less than $11k and they run like a champ, but like all such beasts HARD to control. still the best deal out there! GOOD LUCK! mike todd
  15. YEP $1800 pretty easy I think , I have been trying to add another sear for a year but I watched one go for $25K so whats a measly $1800 these days? mike todd
  16. JIM < If you are in fact licensed SOT, you just need to add the manufactures lic that will cost you $150 and allow you to play all sorts of ways. many projects are quite simple and almost no cost if have the basic firearm. IE; $75. AR lower about 1 hour = M-16 (YEAH BABY) find your MOJO YET? cheers mike todd

  18. WOW, who says they don't look at these post's? I have received 11 approvals as of today 9/27. two sent in march 2016!!! 3 CHEERS FOR ALL THE NEW PEOPLE IN MARTINSBURG!!!! LORD HELP US AFTER SHE'S SWORN IN (sigh) mike todd
  19. NOTHING! keep the records, for obvious reasons. the ATF notice should have been a notice requesting his intent . the records are only for his benefit and they don't need to be sent in like other FFL records. . the NFA weapons don't change anything, the acquisition had to be logged like any other C+R and that's it cheers mike
  20. NITZEL, there are several reasons for the time span for all transfers. I believe the examiner that is assigned to the transfer is the primary factor. I have 17 pending form 4's at this time. A dealer in az gave me a suppressor for my birthday and it required a form 3 to a texas dealer. It took 8 months for that to clear (sigh). I then filed a form 4 and mailed it to Atlanta in march 2016. My dealer here in texas just received the app form 4 , 9/15/16 (yeah). In nov 2014 I mailed 5 form 4's and none of those have cleared to date? aug 2015 , 7 form 4's non cleared, Jan 2016 , 3 form 4's non cleared. Feb 2016. along with the suppressor , I mailed 2 other form 4's in march 2016 that have not cleared. I don't know for sure but I believe the transferor is assigned an examiner that handles all of the forms for that dealer, a while back I viewed a post that listed the performance of all the examiners . Some had done 5 times what the others had in the same time period. In fairness quite a few of them are new trainee's, and that may explain the number's. I have talked directly to several of them recently and in EVERY case find them courteous and diligent. Also most of my purchases were C+R's. In the past some of which were not handled properly, with many required details missing from the forms. Because the trainee's are being closely monitored, so are the forms and several have required updates after received. I know of 2 transfers recently where the item was prior approved on a form 4 and when sold, were found to be pre may sales samples and denied. one unit had sold for $32k and is now worth maybe $12k at most. Along with the cost the time is a major culprit in this field and it requires patience to play. The folks in Atlanta and martinsburg are certainly getting no help from our current administration and thank god they have ignored us so far, as I fear the could really jam things up. CHEERS MIKE
  21. REGRETS ?? depends on the goal. while the type 86 and PSL are great tools that one can shoot reasonably, neither one will come close to the M-14 /1A for shooting comfort and satisfaction. the comm bloc weapons can be quite brutal after a long day at the range . I find the ergonomics of the standard issue M-14 provide's the most comfortable shooting mag fed .30 cal for me. give it a fair chance you will be pleased. cheers mike
  22. NICE EXAMPLE! It would seem that the value is in the $1400. area today maybe a tad more. one thought, I have owned several of these , kept buying examples and testing for best acc/function. You stated this is unfired, and several examples I received, all of which were commercially built, not garage guns, for some reason had oversized holes in the bolt for the firing pin. In all those examples, boxer primed ammo would blow the primers without exception and I would suggest you examine it for that fault. As a result I ended up with 2 units that will outshoot my Chinese type 86 guns by a bunch. It took some work but was certainly worth while. cheers mike
  23. MARK, VERY HARD TO FIND! I'm not sure what the current value is but paid $1300 for my last one in 99. it was like new. I have not seen one offered since. If you are planning of selling one, post it on a site like G-brkr. List it with a reserve in that area at least. By doing so you will get the actual value . cheers mike
  24. RON, you will find several variations of the tab, but they are the nato link of type M-13. I am looking for the south African Vickers link that looks like this. however the "tab" is rotated 90 deg. a ton of linked ammo came in country and not many use them . if you run across any, I will pay .20 ea cheers mike
  25. RANDELL, its very hard for me to get to town and get MO etc. I am in NO hurry to receive, if you will take a personal check and ship after it clears, I will take all the brass. Just give me a total shipped to 78006. if this works for you , email me direct at myoldiron@outlook.com cheers MIKE TODD
