A large portion of that is insurance. If you do a lot of shipping, an annual policy that covers shipments will save you quite a bit. My policy has a $200 deductible, so I just have to pay for that with USPS, which is $1.60. I ship USPS overnight (Express) or Registered mail.

I heard the whole story. this guy (M1collector65) can not be satisfied under any circumstances. I have done lots of deals with Komodoj and he is one of the best in the business.

I have done about $50K in business with Komodoj and can say without reservation that he is one of the most honest dealers I have ever dealt with. Always goes above and beyond to make sure I was completely satisfied. Not sure what's up here, but complaining about a stock on a REPLICA thompson seems petty, especially since the seller gave you 2 additional stocks.

the safest way IMHO would be to hire an attorney and have them contact the ATF and surrender it to them.

I gave up trying to figure out any logical reasons for why/what the ATF does. I guess that model/serial # is enough. I did a FOIA (freedom of information act) request for an NFA item, and all that was required was a serial number. Surprisingly, it took only a few weeks to get the results.

What JECIII said - put a rifle barrel on it and ship it USPS to the out-of-state SOT.

My understanding is that the NFA branch will allow you to fix errors on a paper form, but NOT on an E-form. Something to consider if accurate, especially since the Form 4's are taking about the same time for approval in either submission format.

FYI the torn piece of paper with something written on it, next to the gun, can be photoshopped/faked easily. See example below, scammer responding to my WTB ad - I asked for my name written on paper, photographed next to gun. Photo is a fake (photoshopped) (I edited out my name for privacy)

talk to them on the phone, preferably video chat (facetime) and ask to see the gun "live". If it is a dealer, only send payment to the name/address on the license (verify in EZ-Check) Avoid wire transfers, cash apps (Venmo/paypal), Western Union, etc. Send a cashier's check signature required. Form 3/4 can be copied/stolen/forged/altered. Google their name/address/email/phone number and see what comes up. Don't be in such a hurry to get a "great deal" that you fall for a scam. Better to lose out on a legit deal than to get scammed on a great deal.

I don't have first hand experience, but what I have heard is the ATF is denying law letter transfers if (in their sole determination) the machine gun in question is not suitable for law enforcement. For example, they (the ATF) is saying that a Sten is not a machine gun that any law enforcement agency would realistically use in the line of duty. Or a belt-fed is not something that they need (an exception might be for a Texas DPS "Gunboat" that patrols the Rio Grande). But if your local small town Chief of Police wanted an MG-34 or M-60, they are coming under a LOT of scrutiny, and will likely be denied.

legit seller contacted me and we are in contract.

The FFL/SOT shows Chandler arizona. The initials of the business owner on the FFL are "BMC". The "Seller" refused to give me a phone #, and was unable/unwilling to reply to my private message. So it is confusing but all signs point to fraud. My e-mail address is available from previous ads that I have posted, so perhaps that's where they got it.

I want to add that the "seller" has emailed me a legitimate FFL/SOT and Form 3 for this gun, which could have been fraudulently obtained from the owner. BUYER BEWARE!!!

I realize this occurs in many businesses, but I have noticed a high percentage of FFL's and SOT's who seem to have a hard time with basic customer service concepts. This includes dealers large and small. Full time and "hobbyists" Things like returning emails or messages in a timely manner. Letting you know an item has shipped. Returning phone calls. Maybe it's me, but I don't think it's too much to ask for when you are dealing with $10K or $50K NFA items. OK, rant over. Have a great weekend and enjoy the big game. EDIT- I should add that this does not apply to the VAST MAJORITY of people I have done business with on Sturm. My issues have mainly been with a particular well known MG dealer, and more than a few Gunbroker dealers. Now it is time to relax.

you have to apply for (And receive) a manufacturer FFL (07). There is no "conversion" process. Once you get your 07, you can then apply for the corresponding SOT (02). If you desire, you can let your 01 FFL (and SOT) expire, as the 07 also gives you dealer privileges. The only reason to keep both (that I can think of) is if you do transfers from 2 separate locations.

No photos or prints required. Just submit 2 (signed) copies of page 1. Last few form 4 to dealer took about 90 days or less for approval
