  1. I thought this was GONE ? x50 said funds were on the way? did it collapse? I had someone hot to trot maybe it can still work? let me know mike
  2. GREAT ADVICE ON THE C+R ! it will come in handy if you choose an original gun for your first purchase or add one in the future. the last individual I know of got his approval in 103 days from mailing. almost all the REISINGS will qualify and unless you stumble on a bargain other models will exceed $11k. someone stole an original sten today for less than $7k ! the license will break the ice with the paperwork and is easy to maintain with little official obligation to worry about. UN LIKE ALL other Federal Firearms license, when/if you drop it you simply destroy all your records and you save a $200 transfer with all out of state C+R buys. don't let the recent transfer times scare you off much. recently I had a form 4 clear in 5 months ! it IS getting better . most importantly JOIN US! we need the strength and comradeship.
  3. ADAPT-? most anything metal can be altered but one must question the effort to do so making it worth while. none of those mentioned would be simple to adapt and other than the MG-13 blank adapter or the orig 1910 too expensive or hard to find. most of the early FINN kits imported had one in the kit so it will be the best thing to look for. SOMEWHERE, I have an original or 2, but they will be buried and not easy to locate. keep in touch with me via PM and I will see what I can find while sorting other parts. both examples are in the original soaking cans and may have SA markings. I have not touched them in more than 10 yrs.
  4. I totally AGREE with all you STEN lovers out there, but for some reason forget to mention it when asked the first gun question. maybe because there are so many bad builds out there, who know's but when done right a good first gun. a MAIN issue with them is MAGAZINES a LOT OF JUNK out there, but usually a new spring gets most back in shape. over the years, I have found the mags with the chrome followers to be almost trouble free and an easy thing to spot. one of my best shooters was a sten spin off in 45 acp I set it up with a vert mag housing that took grease gun mags. WISH I HAD IT BACK!
  5. I tried that first, but got NO CONFIRMATION / RESPONSE ETC. I don't like to wait on something when I don't know if the order has even been processed ! just decided to make it on our own.
  6. GOOD LUCK WITH THIS ONE. finding paper work can take a long time and in many cases "they" will push for surrender and the like never to be seen again very easily. I learned a good tool to stall any seizure, find a TEXAS sheriff or PD to take temporary possession while the search proceeds. we currently have one at a PD in CONN. and one in GA. I KNOW SOMEONE will ask EXACTLY WHEN AND WHERE, and I Am TOO OLD BUT I believe it was in the "MITCHELL CASE" an ATF agent testified in OPEN COURT that the "agency" could not prove more than 10% of the guns out there WERE IN the system without the OWNERS paper work ! due to lost info during the card-x to Micro-Fiche change and Micro-Fiche to computer move. SINCE then ALL my forms are color copied twice minimum, originals in a safety deposit box, another set at a diff bank and a set in the book at home. while a copy will do nothing for you in court, at least it can support intent and help create a positive position
  7. AHH< AGAIN THE EVERLASTING QUESTION REARS ITS GNARLY HEAD! WHAT AND WHY! for the newcomer. the motivation for the plunge is a good place to start. if wanting to shoot and no interest in the history or mechanical wonder/ beauty of the machine then a modern weapon with a good reputation and easy ammo comes to mind , like an UZI if pistol caliber is sufficient, many choose the MAC , but I find it a little wild as a first . in pistol cal UZI reg'td receiver is first. A GOOD REISING is 2nd. if not and a rifle cal fits then first choice would be an AR platform . if funds are tight then the AC .556 is a god sub. AFTER THAT, it gets a little harder and many of the "older" designs, still make PERFECT SENSE. when choosing a belt fed, where your historical interests lie should be considered. for me more than 70% of the JOY of stewardship is touching/ looking and working with the weapon. this is a constant and shooting trips will be few by comparison. so what do you like at a first glance? SUPPORT IS OF MAJOR CONCERN! the BROWNING GUNS AND THE VICKERS are pretty close to each other in ease of mait/ parts and cost. parts for the MAXIMS can be very hard to find. for me, nothing beats the VICKERS in a corner on the mount. a 1919 Browning will be the easiest to use, IE; no water but not near the "curb appeal". both are easy to load for and for a while ammo is still out there. I use the 7.62 x 54 in both but you will find .308 to be most abundant and both run well with it. in 60 yrs doing this, the questions and answers have always been the same and EVERYONE will have their own favorite's and reasons as it should be. to get the MOST out of the experience don't loose yourself in the shuffle. once you make the decision then talk to as many REPUTABLE PEOPLE as you can b-4 you buy. THIS WAS A GOOD PLACE TO START! GOOD LUCK and ENJOY mike
  8. STILL NO LUCK FINDING ANYTHING but semi auto stuff. I have several IMI NOS SEMI BOLTS and maybe someone can "bubba" them up so at least there is a cheesy option? I WOULD BUY A FULL KIT IF NEED BE THANX MIKE
  9. I JUST HAD A TRANSFER FROM MY FORM 4 to an out of state dealer clear in less than 2 months! certainly my record as I had another take more than a year? I honestly believe it DEPENDS ENTIRLY ON THE EXAMINER and how broad her butt is.
  10. only one pic loaded showing the back, but its close to a SOUMI "COFFIN" TYPE ? there are few double column single stack surplus mags out there. more pics would be a big help.
  11. I believe there is still some connection to S+W even too Umarex. all I know for sure is they went to hell when the change occurred and how that Unmarex .22 lr AR look alike came about is beyond ME. TOTAL JUNK! almost impossible to take down and completely clean.
  12. quote-" I saw it too,in some B movies, guys just unholster their M9 and shoot half of magazine, and then eject them before slide lock after last round, and then put another magazine and keep shooting. I'm a bit confused how is that possible because the M9 have single action before first round, and then all other rounds are double action,or that's how i heard." WHEN I AM TEACHING FOLKS, THE FIRST LESSON I DRILL IS , one should try to answer any question themselves b-4 asking it, then you learn How much you actually know! when you get the correct answer. think about the action that occurs in the above . by shooting half the mag and stopping, a round is still chambered when the half full mag is ejected. installing a full mag and pulling the trigger fires the chambered round and the weapon will load a round from the new mag . the hammer would have been cocked and ready to fire single action when the half mag was dropped had the hammer been lowered during the change, the gun could still be fired 'double action". I don't support the stupid question possibility at all , I believe confidence is lacking or perhaps a little fear .
  13. I JUST DONT SEE ANY WAY THAT much change will be tolerated in the "basic" firearms laws, BUT I do predict SEVERAL big chunks will be bitten off. if something happens to the NFA registry, machine guns will only increase in another category that gets little attention these days. PERSONAL SAMPLES!
  14. THANX JOHNSON I HAD HEARD EXACTLY THAT BUT WANTED IT CONFIRMED BY A RRP FROM THE BOARD!. I was up to snuff with the 4473 etc. thanx again for the hit!
  15. CHARLES , I don't think he is ready to sell until his BREN CHAIR /MOUNT is gone. he has 3 Mk1 and 2 MkII guns. the chair is a twin or it would have been gone long ago. not many out there with 2 guns. none of his guns will be sold until he has passed on. I will check though. the last complete set I know of that sold (mk2) went for $7k in 2011.
  16. GOT IT "NOT A REWELD" scuz me for using a generally accepted form of communication. the response was wrong also! in the future I will use the ONLY "proper" term, REMANUFACTURED ! simply because SOMEONE might think the only thing done was a simple welding job !
  17. WHATS UP WITH THE MG-15 in the pics? having trouble?
  18. SMITH AND WESSON absolutely killed the WALTHER COMPANY and everything else I know of that they "touched" so no surprise here
  19. I don't think either way will be a big issue. it took a TON of work to get my last shrike running and I'm still not that confident with it so just let them know its NEW AND UNTESTED. the price is going to get the job done no matter how you list it. price it right and it will move.
  20. SORRY< BUT I DONT GET IT. NEVER done a 4473 when transferring NFA. I am an individual and mailing this NFA weapon to a dealer out of state. the 4473 has NO place in this transaction. they are dealer only until sometime shortly following the next national election. he has already completed his 5320 or what ever the forms are to move. as I mentioned, I do have his new license with the new information signed in ink.
  21. this week I received an approved form 4 to transfer a VICKERS to an out of state dealer that had been pending quite a while. when I advised the buyer it had approved and I planned to ship it soon, he replied that the transferee on my form and just moved (couple blocks same name/ city/state) and to ship it too the NEW ADDRESS ! what is the proper procedure in that case? he did overnight a signed in ink copy of the license with the new destination. everything is the same but the actual address. do I need something in writing from ATF? with all the LONG transfer times I'm sure this has happened a few time's the last 3 years or so. THOUGHTS? thanx mike
  22. THANX GUYS, I am currently reaching out to GSL for what I need. as for GEMTEC ? ABSOLUTLY NO E-MAIL RESPONSE AND THEY DONT ANSWER THE PHONE. you get a recording " no one is available to answer your call". I have the machines to make all this, but my hands wont answer to my brain. so it must get done y others.
