  1. Here's a picture of Pat Tomlinson on the day he completed my Vickers build. It is a US Balloon Buster side plate gun using a mint '42 Aussie parts kit. I must admit Pat was especially nasty to deal with. He was always pissed off about anything and everything. If Dolf had not intervened on my part, Pat would not have completed my build. Pat has since passed away. Too bad. Pat insisted I do a Form 3 transfer to him for the side plate prior to doing the build. That's exactly what I did, but he then did a Form 3 transfer for the completed weapon back to me. So, I now have paperwork provenance that Pat did indeed do my build. In the long run, I guess, it was a good thing we did it this way. My Vickers eats everything that I feed it; .303, 8mm, 30-06, .308, 54R. .
  2. #8 above sure looks like a front sight for an LMG 08/15.
  3. While a loader will help you load these drums, one isn't really needed. You can load it by hand easily. Give it a try.
  4. You need to contact user L999here over on 1919 A4 dot com. He should be able to assist you.
  5. A few years ago somebody was modifying these drums to fit MG34 feed trays so they could be used with MG34 .308 conversions. For the life of me, I cannot recall who that was.
  6. It has been a while since I needed anything from them. But, a couple years ago I had an issue mounting one of their suppressors, so I called their 800 number. I told the person at the end of the line what my issue was. He immediately transferred me to Doc Dater himself. The good doctor had the problem ironed out in five minutes. Who could ask for anything else?
  7. There is another issue that you should be aware of. And that is your eyesight. If you are near sighted, you may be prone to retinal detachment. I should know as the retina in my right eye became detached and I needed emergency surgery to reattach it. After speaking with my surgeon, who is an avid gun guy, I was told to avoid heavy recoiling shoulder fired weapons at all costs. Even shoulder fired high cyclic rate .223 machine guns are to be avoided. Any weapon that causes your head to move fore and aft can contribute to a detached retina. I know of others who have also been told to avoid heavy recoil shooting due to eye issues. This problem hasn't been addressed enough, but it is real.
  8. I would suggest you go out and try various belt feds. Some may appear very appealing until you actually try them. Only you can say what is fun to shoot and what is wanting. As one gets older, other issues come into play. You may enjoy laying in the dirt playing with your toys. I, for one, do not find any enjoyment in doing that. If I want to traipse around while shooting full auto, I'll play with a magazine fed weapon. I'm not about to walk around hauling a heavy weapon trailing a belt of ammo. When the shooting session is finished, I'm not about to scour all over creation policing my belts/links and brass. I just want to rest my fat a$$ on a seat and saturate the beaten zone with lead. Plus, all the spent brass and belts/links are in a nice pile ready to be picked up. The smile on my buddy's face says it all.
  9. I know you're looking for original grips, but there are some aftermarket wood grips available on eBay. Just search on 'P220 grips European' to find them.
  10. What flavor of links? Browning or M60/M240 or SA Vickers or ...
  11. If you haven't done so yet, post your WTB over on 1919A4 dot com.
  12. I just got IMA's latest email sales ad. It shows they indeed still have some Turkish aluminum Maxim belts. They have them labeled as "Original German Maxim MG Aluminum Ammunition Belt - 250 Rounds". https://www.ima-usa.com/collections/german-machine-guns/products/original-german-wwi-maxim-mg-aluminum-ammunition-belt-250-rounds?variant=25653069061
  13. Original German 08-08/15 belts are offered from time to time on eBay. Most are in poor condition and good enough for display purposes only. Tabbed Vickers belts work just fine after the pockets are stretched out. Sarco and OOW offered loaders for these tabbed Vickers belts in the past. I don't know if they still do. Bill Guiette makes a great belt loader. That said, it's probably better to get some surplus Turkish aluminum 250 round 8mm belts. They are/were inexpensive and can be loaded by hand, no loader needed. IMA sold them in the past for thirty bucks a pop. That was well worth it. An original German 08-08/15 belt loader is rare and very, very expensive. I have no idea about acquiring an 08/15 bipod. Maybe you should post a WTB over on 1919A4 dot com and plenty of Maxim and Vickers shooters hang out over there.
  14. Excuse me, but is this item priced correctly or described correctly?
  15. Did you contact Dolf Goldsmith? He was may be able to help you.
  16. They're around, but expect to spend ~$500 for one.
  17. No can here for my WH '28, but I can get between 1200 and 1500 rounds through my kit before it needs cleaning. I runs nice and sloooooow using old time Wally Works bulk Federal stuff. I got it years ago and was fit to my WH '28 by PK. He even fit a Numrich magazine adapter and I run only 30 round metal Squire Bingham banana mags. This is a great kit and very reliable.
  18. Estes Adams is the go to guy for all things SIG.. He's on GB all the time and has the user id 'fg42man'.
  19. I picked up a copy of your AR-10 book around 20 years ago when I stumbled upon a 'Heinz 57' AR-10 built on a Hahn re-welded AI receiver. Your book is a wealth of information. Thank you.
  20. I just did an Amazon search for 'sam pikula' and I see the Kindle edition is being offered for $19.95.
