I really like carbines and agree that the M2 is a lot of fun. But in your second post above you talk about wanting a cheap “American WWII M G “. If that is the case, look at the Reising M50 for around $6000. 45 ACP is cheaper than .30 Carbine too. It got a bad rap from the Marine Corps because it did not stand up to extreme combat use. It served well in a police/security role and is great at the range. Just don’t try to live in the jungle with it.

Bill No, the advertised mags will not fit a 1928. The seller states 'These are original magazines that have been modified to be used with semi-auto and semi-auto SBR'd Thompsons.' This usually means that the hole in the rear of the mag where it locks into the frame has been enlarged to fit the semi-auto version of the gun. When you are looking for mags you want the original ones with a round hole. The modified mags will have a larger and more oblong hole. They will not lock up in a machine gun because they would be too loose.

When I buy used parts I want to see a detailed description of the condition, the more specific the better. Good close-up pictures make a big difference in the price I am willing to pay also. What is the condition of the barrel? A blanket description of the small parts is OK, but at least describe the more expensive parts such as barrel and bolt separately. Are these spare parts that you have actually used in an M3 or are they suitable only for a display gun?

You say you are new to Class 3, I hope you are aware of Knob Creek, just down the road from you. Next month the semi-annual show and shoot is a great opportunity for you. and another vote for the MP40. A classic German gun that is fun to shoot and parts/accessories are readily available.
