Did you ever find a smith for your PPSh 41? I just got mine back from http://www.mhgunsmithing.com/ Mine is a C&R but it experienced every type jam you can think of; T jam, stovepipe, and would just stop firing. Anyway, Mike Hane fixed it, he said it was a bolt-extractor-ejector problem. Runs great now.
