LUGER POLICE MODEL

Recommended Posts

This DWM Police Luger with all matching serial numbers is in 9mm. Made in 1920-22 for Senior Service German Police (H.P., Hohere Polizeischule* marking on handgrip).  The Luger is in NRA "Excellent" (Antique)** condition.  Comes with original magazine with matching serial numbers made by Simson & Co, Suhl,  one extra magazine and rare takedown tool.  Almost all original finish remains with only minor/normal wear on the pistol's high points and muzzle.  Sharp markings and proofs. The most wear is on the front and rear of the grip and is minimal and consistent with a 100+ year old weapon.  No pitting or deep scratches.  Excellent bore. Original walnut grips with sharp checkering are in near perfect condition with only slight discoloration through handling. The original holster is in fine condition with good stitching but shows service wear, especially on the cover locking strap. The holster, marked GENSCHOW & CO BERLIN 1937 and having a WaA387 proof stamp, is proper for a Police issued holster of the Third Reich era.  Extremely light markings on the underside of the holster flap might, by an expert, be read and offer a clue as to the unit or owner.

This Luger is a World War II veteran bring-back that the seller purchased from the family estate in approximately 2008 and is from his private collection.

$2600 includes insured Priority Mail shipping, FFL to FFL.

* From Luger Forums:   H.P. Police Lugers are among the most enigmatic of Luger variations. The elements which identify them--the unit marking on the right receiver in addition to the front grip strap, the unit markings on the magazine spines, and most characteristically the ground-away stock lugs--are unique.  Conventionally, the unit mark is interpreted as "Hohere Polizeischule" (Senior Service Police Academy), as specified in the 1932 Prussian Police marking instructions. It has been noted, however, that the marking instruction for the Hohere Polizeischule is HP., while the Lugers themselves are marked H.P. (note the difference in the periods).

** NRA Excellent: All original parts, over 80% original finish, sharp lettering, numerals and design on metal and wood; fine bore.
