The scammers keep popping up, the Sturm team and long time members keep rooting them out. That is the good news.....

The other side of the coin is this: some posters have a new "profile" name (from the old Sturm) and hard to tell who they are right off the bat. It could be they do not post a lot and then when they do, they have a new name and only 1 post showing. Just something we need to deal with, or if they simply stated "this is so and so" from the old board?

Personally, when I see a new WTS post, a new name I do not recognize, it is an NFA item or expensive, poor description, no photo, THIS is big time RED flags.

Mike at Precision Tech. has been posting in Blue, just below a questionable ad, Be Careful. He is not calling anyone out, just saying do your due diligence and don't get burned.

Mikes posts are Just another way we can look out for each other, Sturm Rocks, so lets not let the bad eggs of the world get any traction here on the new boards!

Scammers will always try to screw us over… That's probably never going to stop. But we've got the Best Gun Guys in the entire World right here and we all watch out for each other. All the Asshole Scammers can Go to Hell...

For blued in that kind of shape WITH the box, manual, test target all accessories you are looking at $3-$3.4K for an M13 and up to $2,7K to $2.8K for an M8. Chromed would be more. Without the numbered boxes etc. less. Much less.

Thanks Kent - really appreciate the guidance - had no idea as to actual value. Stay Safe!

What about the General and Semi forums board?  I haven't tried, but can an opinion or remark be deleted?  Some times in the heat of the moment things get said and posted, which when one wakes up the next morning, they think maybe it wasn't such a good idea, because big brother in NSA is surfing the net all the time.

In that case, I'd just ask that One of the Mods or Admins Delete the unfortunate comment. I don't think that would be a huge deal.

Thank you, I have been wondering also how this process works.  I think this little bit of information could go a long way in preventing bogus deals.

No problem. We all have to look out for each other. The Best people in the Free World buy and sell on Sturm. I Hate Scammers that steal from good, honest people. I Wish they had to eat a large brick for every penny they've stolen. Until then, we must keep an eye out for them and alert everyone whenever we discover anything suspicious.

How are you validating registration with NFA branch as a disinterested third party?   I was not aware they would disclose that info to random callers over the phone?   How would you go about that?  TIA

They won't disclose any details to a third party due to Tax privacy statutes... However, you must inform them that you are a potential Buyer needing to verify that the purported Seller is actually Legitimate. You then, slowly, read to them Everything you have on the Supposed current Transfer form and ask them whether or not it Matches. Without giving you any details, they Will tell you if Anything is Bogus (i.e. does Not match what they have on file) according to the last transfer in the NFRTR. That is the way in which you are able to Validate without violation of any privacy laws or regulations. They divulge, Only, whether the information you have Matches or Not.

Precision. When you drive to my place don't complain about the drive because it ain't a 30 minute drive from mesa.  Just saying

You are correct, it's usually around an hour and 20 minutes… But the way I drive, it would be just about half an hour! :D

Ya man I understand the trust issues. I hope it doesn't sell:)  im already having second thoughts

If you're having second thoughts and don't need the money, I'd strongly suggest that you do Not sell your M16A1. I've sold a few guns that I regretted parting with immediately after committing to the deal and would Not sell them again if I could go back and change the past. You can always post the gun later, however, it may be very difficult to replace something that you really covet and it will almost always cost you a lot more down the road.

  7. Scammers frequently steal GunBroker Identities in order to fool others into thinking they are legit. I always ask for references from other individuals on Sturm or another reputable site. Regardless, they are going to have to send proof of possession with clear images of my email on or under the item. If a Title II gun, they will also need to provide the current transfer info that I validate with NFA Branch. Finally, I speak with them on the phone because the Nigerian, Fuck-Tards have Horrible accents with Awful VOIP phone connections and are barely functional in English. And they have, absolutely, No idea what they are supposedly selling and No clue as to the transfer process. I never educate them, just ask questions and evaluate their basic knowledge, or lack thereof, and then cancel the deal if they fail any aspect or anything appears suspicious.

       CONDITION: Used, Minor Wear

    ITEM #: 966091419
    BRAND: COLT MFG CO INC
    CALIBER: .223 Remington (5.56 NATO)
    LOCATION: AZ

A simple Google search reveals that the above Item # is Not a Serial Number; it is the Item Number from an identical post on Guns America: Link: https://www.gunsamerica.com/classifieds/view/_966091419.aspx

Again, I'm willing to drive to the poster's location and verify his actual possession, current paperwork, condition, etc., if anyone from Sturm becomes involved in a deal with this New, Unknown individual regarding the above M16A1. If legit, there should be No issue with making arrangements for me to validate everything.

  9. I'm in Mesa, AZ: about a 30 minute drive from the poster. If anyone is seriously interested in the above M16A1, I will meet the seller and take a look at it for you and verify actual possession, current paperwork, condition, etc… Just let me know...

  10. I purchased the compass, listed above, from David Fine. He is a very friendly and professional individual that described the item accurately and sent several clear images as proof. He called and/or emailed at each stage: from receipt of payment to sending tracking info at the time he shipped. The compass was well-packed and arrived very quickly. Great transaction and I would Not hesitate to do another deal with David.

  11. A friend wants to trade, one each, Factory Original, HK P7M8 and HK P7M13 pistols for some other stuff I have. Both pistols are Brand New, Flawless and sport the rare HK Factory Nickel finish. Each comes with Two New Factory Magazines - also with HK Factory Nickel finish. The guns have been in his safe for years and he is not sure where the plastic boxes, manuals, etc are but is looking for them. Since he does not presently have those standard accessories, I'm trying to accurately value the Pistols and Mags Only at this point. I'd like to be sure the trade is equitable and I'd appreciate opinions from knowledgable individuals as to what they believe the current market value to be for each pistol with two mags as detailed above. Thanks.

  12. Guys:

    THIS IS A SCAM!!

Another, New, Unknown User posting… Demand Clear images with your email address written on a small piece of paper laying right on top of the Gun. Also get a copy of the, supposed, current Transfer Form and verify All Info with NFA Branch - they will tell you if any of the info does Not match. Talk to the poster on the phone to determine if he has a Nigerian or other strange accent. Does he know anything about guns and the transfer process? Is he calling from a weird VOIP Google Phone or some other non-standard modality? Get Verifiable References from this Board or another reputable site - do Not rely on an easily stolen Identity from Gun-Broker, etc… Be smart and save your $$$. Don't become the latest victim of Scum-Bag Scammers!

Perhaps a officers Gun ,OR a GENERALS, I THINK NOT

I've spoken with two highly-regarded experts (that have written books about TSMGs) concerning the unusual Chrome and Satin Nickel guns that I have seen. They both were certain that Zero Genuine Factory guns (Colt and Savage) were finished in this manner. Each indicated that they'd seen a few examples that were Chrome or Nickel because "Southern Sheriffs or Police Chiefs" used them as "Parade or Ceremonial" guns. I definitely prefer the Factory Blue or Black Oxide. I cannot imagine it would do anything but enhance the value to have any of those guns professionally restored back to their original finish.

What's a "fair" market price in your opinion Doug?

There is never an exact "fair market price." That will vary widely from one opinion to another regarding each gun and its unique attributes. Obvious things, such as: factory original finish versus refinished; external defects and wear; overall number of rounds fired with wear to internal parts; signs of over-powered ammo resulting in dimples in rear receiver; French upgrades; Import markings; prior famous ownership with provenance; etc., determine what various offerings may fetch in the present market. I agree that some recent ads, all across the web, of less than stellar examples, come with "High" asking prices. But that is the norm: push the envelope and shoot for the moon to Eventually sell after the market finally catches up or negotiate down now to a more realistic current value and sell the item in a much shorter period of time.

  15. That is Awesome - the Jackass got less than he deserved but about as much as could ever be expected from our legal system. I was afraid he would only get a fine. Nice to see that the punishment had real teeth in this case! He's lucky to be alive - some owners would have killed anyone who harmed an animal that they considered part of the family.
