I use USPS priority, express, or registered mail (adult signature required) for all NFA items. I have a supplemental insurance policy. All carriers have issues but so far no lost NFA items. Also if something does disappear the postal inspectors or ATF can actually help.
agree with taylorwso - the BRP's are great guns for the money.
also a Mac with a Lage upper would be in your price range.
I really like Sterlings also - great shooters (much better than a Sten, but may be out of your price range)
not sure what you're looking for? can you be a little more specific?

Scan and email pdf files to nfafax@atf.gov

I don't believe it is required. Just use a cover sheet and put "Form 3 follows" with all your contact info. Just like mailing it in - you don't need a letter, just the Form 3.
That said, personally I would e-mail the submission, rather than faxing it. If you don't have a scanner, you can buy a stand alone flat top one for cheap.

from the home page (or click on the "home" icon), scroll down to Ammunition, and click on that link (the word "Ammunition"), then click on the link (the blue box) on the right that says "Start New Topic"
you do not need to do (Attach) anything at step 7. If it is in your online inventory, you can Efile it to another SOT.
he can transfer directly to you (out of state SOT).
Expect 30-60 days for approval.
You can get supplemental insurance that covers NFA items while being shipped. (Collect Insure, for example)
Chef is correct. It's like when UPS or Fedex discovers (illegal) drugs in a shipment. They notify LE - who has the authority to confiscate them, and investigate any crimes. In the case of a NFA item, the investigation would result in the return of that item to the lawful owner. That said, maybe not worth the risk, when the USPS is a viable alternative.
my understanding is you can give them notice of non-renewal along with your first Form 3 transfer for a post sample. This will start the "clock" as late as possible and give you the most time to sell your posties. Someone please correct me if this is wrong.
I have done over 100k of business with MWT and they have always done right by me. The one time I had an issue they made it right, no questions asked.
take a deep breath and talk on the phone to get this resolved.
Do you want to be the test case (first prosecution?)
spend the $50 and get it engraved as the regulation prescribes
to answer your question, the penalty would be seizure of your NFA item.
I have used it the last couple years and it has been quick and easy. If only the rest of the government were this efficient....

I just did a NFA FOIA for a machine gun and it went to "special status" but it only took about 3 weeks to get the file/info.

kind of funny that they use the word "FAX" as part of their email address.
Others have been having this issue with inventory not showing (myself included).
mine went back to normal after a weekend. Others it took a few more days. Hopefully will be back to normal soon.
Form 4 to dealer has been taking about 60 days lately
Sold out! Please close this thread.
thanks all. I may have the opportunity down the road to do business with a LE agency in an adjoining state.
Can a FFL/SOT transfer a machine gun to a law enforcement agency on a form 5 to an adjoining state? (For example FFL in Kentucky and transfer to a sherifffs office in Indiana)
BTT - only about 15 left!
Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

an annual policy (for a non-dealer) runs about 1% of the policy limits, and it covers theft, fire, and shipments.
