1914 WWI Lewis Light Machine gun with 4 magazines, original shipping crate, leather pouch with tools and spare bolt. 303 British caliber. Manufacturer is listed as Charles Erb. Receiver looks to have been nicely re-welded by Erb. Overall metal finish is very good. Butt stock is fairly rough.  Firearm originally manufactured by Birmingham Small Arms (BSA) Mfg. Co., and likely shipped to Belgium for the First World War. In its’ day the Lewis Gun was considered the premier air cooled light machine gun in the world. They were the first machine guns successfully used on military fighter aircraft being used to defeat the likes of the Red Baron. The Lewis Gun continued to see use in the early stages of WWII. The firearm features a fixed front sight and rear sight adjustable 100-1900 meters. It’s slow 500-600 rpm rate of fire makes it extremely satisfying and economical to shoot. This NFA Firearm is located in Oregon and is on a Form 4. It has been a prized possession of the current owner for over 14 years.
