Ethan Pruett
I apologize if this question has been asked before, I searched for a while and didn’t find what I was looking for. I also apologize if I’m asking in the wrong place. I eventually want to buy an original shooter’s grade Sturmgewehr, it’s my dream rifle and at the top of my list of things I want to collect. I am a youngster who hasn’t been working full time very long and I am nowhere near capable to buy one yet. But I wanted to see what prices I should expect so I know how much to save up. The only information I found through Google was by its AI search engine which I don’t fully trust. My only criteria is for it to be on the registry as a machine gun, and that it not have any major structural problems. Lowest reasonable price point is best, so I am perfectly fine with mismatched parts, mixed finishes, even if some parts are missing or if some minor gunsmithing is needed. REWAT is great too. What value should I expect for a rifle in that category? Also if this is the wrong place to ask, please let me know where I should go. Thanks. Bill in Bama
Seems the going price is currently around $45,000, but you’ll find higher listings and maybe a lower one occasionally. I’ve owned two, both good shooters. Ammo is the limiting factor at present, original stuff is $$$$ and new is scarce. Most serious shooters reload and .308 cases can be used with work. Good luck. mattnh
They come up at auctions with some regularity. I think there were a few at the last couple Poulin auctions. -M
