J AND J FIREARMS
Any market out there for law letter guns? Got a few I was thinking about moving. Have never sold one before. Any advice on how to do it properly would be appreciated. I know some of you guys are strong in this area. Thanks, Steve
WashingtonCountyGuns
For the past few years, Law Letter MG's have become a harder sell since the ability to get law letters has dastically reduced due to that guy in Maryland. Now if you have something special, sure, throw that baby on GunBroker and someone will buy it. Sometimes Post-86 Law-Letter MGs are worth more as a parts-kit, so carefully cut that receiver per ATF regulations and then anyone can buy it. J AND J FIREARMS
Thanks so much for the reply. Sounds like your advice is solid. I’m not sure if I have anything “special “, a couple Colts, a M4 and a Commando, a HK UMP 40, and a Glock 17 conversion. Is any of this worth someone’s consideration? MPFiveO
Those are guns that a PD might actually ask for a demo on. A WWII German MG42, not so much. Those aren't really high value guns but someone will buy them. Factory Colt's will bring more than a milled and drilled Anderson. The .40 S&W is almost on life support. I just had RSO duty with the police academy for a class of 24 students. The number of officers shooting .40 S&W was less than the digits on my left hand. Almost all were shooting 9mm. Glock machine pistols are fun. Yep, that's about it. They're fun. They really have no useful purpose. I've shot all kinds of machine pistols and they're just fun. Mag dumping into a dirt bank is fun. But there's absolutely no way I'd ever want one for tactical use. I wouldn't want one issued to me and I wouldn't issue one to an officer. Entirely too much liability. It's probably a great gun to have if you are ambushed in a telephone booth, otherwise it's just fun.
J AND J FIREARMS
Thanks MPFive0. It is encouraging to hear that. You’re right about the Glock. Loads of fun but not practical at all. I may post the Colts and H&K. If I do I will offer them at a very reasonable cost. I have enjoyed owning and demonstrating them. Again, thanks. Chef
If you decide to part anything out, keep in mind that the demil requirements for imports are not necessarily the same for post-samples already in the country. So there's no need to do three diagonal cuts with a torch to demil a postie. You'll get more $$ if you keep your demil to a minimum.
