1140-AA89:  Interstate Transport and Temporary Export of National Firearms Act - NPRM

ATF is proposing to update the administrative process for transporting lawfully registered National Firearms Act (NFA) firearms within the United States. Under the proposal, individuals transporting NFA firearms for short-term purposes (365 days or fewer) would no longer be required to submit advance notice to ATF or await approval before departing. Individuals transporting NFA firearms for long-term purposes (more than 365 days) or permanent relocation would still submit notice but would not need to await ATF approval before transporting. This change to ATF Form 5320.20 (Form 20), per 27 CFR § 478.28, is intended to remove an unnecessary regulatory burden on law-abiding NFA firearm owners without affecting applicable federal, state, or local legal requirements.

I wonder how that is going to play out for WI? Currently need a LE letter saying you are a good person and fine to bring em in.............EVERY STINKIN YEAR!

State laws should not be enforced by the federal government. Same way state police dont enforce federal law.

So, an approved Form 1 or Form 4 doesn't say your a good person? Because you're not going to get an approved Form if you're not a good person.

While the feds don't enforce state law in WI, they also won't assist you in violating it, as in approving a travel permit to a prohibited state.   The state statute states you need to be authorized by a CLEO in order to be exempt from the prohibition on NFA stuff.  What it doesn't say is if you have a CLEO letter or signature on a form and you are out of state, that would also suffice.   Of course the easy button is if you have a C+R license you are also exempt.   Not an 02/07, or 01/03, but a C+R. LOL

The rules were written long ago when a CLEO signature was required and never changed.  WI gov. JB Pritzger's office won't likely allow any deviation. (And no Tony Nevers is not the real gov., as he shares a suite with dementia Joe while the DNC and Pritzger run the show)

And yes for the record, if the NFA low tax/no tax thing lawsuit is successful,  you'd be banned from buying suppressors too.  Yes, 25% of current NFA legal states would have bans coming.... but that would be a  win..... somehow?

Meanwhile, those of us in free states will enjoy the full benefit of the proposed changes. If the people can't change their government then it might be time to look for another place to live. The government is supposed to protect it's people, not prevent them from protecting themselves. When laws are passed that only affect law abiding people then the law is unjust and has no value.

If it's legal to bring a NFA weapon there with a special blessing letter then it should be legal period. NFA paperwork is proof that the item is legally registered and that the registrant has passed the proper background checks.

States that allow suppressors because they are registered in the NFRTR should allow suppressors regardless because they'll still be legal even if they are removed from the registry. They never should have been regulated in the first place.

Yep, I agree with all of that, unfortunately currently at least 10 states would see an immediate ban on suppressors.   That's just the reality.  TX just changed their law, but the other states have not, and to date don't plan to other than MO that had a vote last year that failed.   What we do know for sure is the gun community has one of the worst voting records of any "group" and in the past had been solely represented by the gun banning NRA.  When that's your main "lobbying" group, you're in serious trouble!   NRA members are sort of like PETA members and assume because there was a dinner party, steak was always on the menu, somehow overlooking that Wayne was a vegan and attending democrat fundraisers.

People don't change government, lobbyists do.  The sooner you buy better representation the sooner you have your rights restored.  Take a lesson from the other side who spends the money.  Come January, and a retard like Hakeem is sworn in as speaker, it will be all about the money.  Over 100 million gun owners will not have spent a dime on political races and over half of them won't even vote for free.

Ohio is currently taking suppressors and SBRs off of their "dangerous ordnance" list.

Theyve already taken some other things off of it like 30+rd mags.

I say scrap the whole list. But theyd rather just eat away at it

The NRA is not the only game in town. Groups like GOA have been instrumental in effecting change. The problem is, just like democrats who have always voted democrat because their grandparent's grandparents voted democrat, the gun community always supports the NRA. This blind following is why gun owners are getting fleeced. There's no profit in winning, only fighting. GOA only cares about winning and they fight for all gun owners. The NRA has only recently gotten on board for suppressors but will never jump into the fight on machine guns or forced reset triggers because the sporting Fudd's just don't care about them. Meanwhile the large group that likes to mag dump into dirt isn't getting any representation from the NRA because we don't shoot animals with our range toys.

Where do they think all that cheap steel case Russian ammo was going before the supply was cut off? It had a huge effect on the shooting community because it was something like 30 percent of the ammo being purchased. That cheap ammo kept all the others competitive. Look at ammo prices today. Politics played a much bigger role but the consumers were the ones paying the price. They punished us because of Russian aggression. No one stood up for us. It doesn't look like they ever will.
