Fourfiftyfourcasull
Recently got this in a collection looking for more info on it. Initially thought it was a moderator on the barrel but it seems the device is part of the barrel. Super heavy barrel profile. Brand ? Use Case ? MPFiveO
I'll give it a shot... The upper is an M16A1, but I can't say who made it without close up pics of any markings. There's no forge code so it could be an earlier Colt or it could be a GM or H&R made in the late 60's. There are details that will point out who made it. Rear sight is missing. The barrel could be a Bushmaster. They made some extra long barrels in the late 80's to early 90's. Most will be marked B MP on top of the barrel. I'm not sure if SGW made long barrels but they had cast front sight bases and that one looks to be forged, and missing one of the taper pins. Free float handguards were made by several manufacturers so it would be difficult to nail that one down. The extended flash hider does come off, otherwise they wouldn't be able to install the front sight base. It appears to be a commercial copy of the XM177 moderator but not a very good one, slots are all wrong on it. These were marketed toward target shooters and prairie dog hunters back in the day. My guess is that carry handle has some marks on it from a scope mount.
