Need advice on filing a Form 1 and making a can

I have a friend who wants to make his own can after Jan. 1, he's handy with tools and has access to some machining equipment but not a machinist himself.  I have told him the requirements about engraving, the info needed, etc. but I'm at a loss as to what else ATF will require.  Can anyone help me out?  Also, he asked  about papering a filter trap and I know there was a lot of controversy about these and ATF came down hard on some folks, but I really didn't follow the discussion closely and know little on the subject.  Thanks for the help.

I'm assuming that he has an eforms account - eForm 1 will require digital photos & fingerprints (or alternatively he can mail hard copies in with a page he'll get from the application).  Other than the engraving requirement, it's pretty much the same as a form 4.

On my last form 1 SBR, ATF wanted photos of the gun's markings, so he shouldn't be surprised if he gets the same request.

I’m also wanting to do a form 1 suppressor, after the 1st. I think you need to provide them with the dimensions (OD, overall length, baffle dimensions, and so on) of the suppressor too (different from an sbr)

He doesn't have an account but plans to register after Jan 1, so shouldn't be a problem,  and he already got an aft of his prints though Silencerco.
