Very cool new belt-fed upper...

I'm not even sure what I just watched. I can't see anything on that video. I did a quick search for Cloak Industries Inc and came up with nothing but a couple of links to that same video. Can you help us out with a link to the company or maybe a little more information?

I just watched their only video, that doesn't show anything but some ammo and links, and their website just says that they are "days away" from releasing the product.

No real information either place. Can I ask where you got your info, Jason?

I have a lima-six upper kit on order. Should be delivered before Christmas and the designer/engineer has been very forthcoming with info an updates. Really reassuring after watching the shrike fiasco

Looking just a little bit more, only thing I could find new is that they call it the MFR-56 in one of their single sentence descriptions.

That is the same designation as the Turkish shrike/MCR clone that the Philippines military supposedly bought. I know a few have been imported for evaluation by people. But nothing has been sold on the open market. I've also heard that the parts are probably not interchangeable with an MCR, according to someone that has one.

I know someone in the past tried to import these uppers, but the turkish company "system defense" kept ghosting him. Even when he set up an on-person meeting in Turkey.

This will be an interesting time for belt fed ARs. With the Lima-6 wrapping uo its first round of production and starting a 2nd. The cryostructure vaporware MCR clone, and nkw this Turkish MCR clone finally coming to market. Fightlite has already been trying to stay relevant with the new Raptor upper that sacrifices some features to try to be more affordable.

Just musing here, but I would love to see the original Armalite belt fed system come back to the market. It was born in the AR-10 and then scaled down to the AR-15. It was later produced by Jonathan Arthur Ciener in the 80's.spacer.png Around the time Geoffrey Herring was developing the Shrike a company called Valkyrie Armament brought out an improved version of the system. They went out of business and then the system was supposed to be produced by Slidefire Systems, the same company that made bumpstocks. I've only seen a small handful of the Valkyrie units on the market and never seen one of the Slidefire BFR units. I'd really like to have one of these units for a retro project. Maybe PSA can buy the project and incorporate it into their retro line. They have the manufacturing capabilities.

The AR15 beltfeed unit designed by Rob Roy is so interesting. The mechanics of the belt advancement in such a compact operating space are really ingenious IMO.

There's a link within your link describing the evolution.

Problem with the original AR10 belt feed system is that it requires a large chunk of the lower receiver to be removed.

So ability to pop a belt feed upper on to an unmodified and costly lower is a clear advantage and shows up in the herrings patent claims.  Now with the whole FRT thing I suppose that modifying a lower is no biggie.

So you see, there is viability in the antiquated Armalite system. A PSA H&R M16A1 clone fitted with a heavy barrel and bipod with this system would be a dream come true for retro fans. Even if it didn't come with a FRT installed it would be the coolest gun on the block. Especially if it was fitted with some brown bakelite furniture...

If you're going to dream might as well go for the cherry on top.
