Journey on an M60E1 to M60E6 Conversion

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased a fully transferable conversion M60E1 with the intent of converting it to an M60E6 danish kit. I bought the E6 danish kit from a reputable GunBroker seller for top dollar and then sent both a local gunsmith that I have used in the past for the installation. I figured it would be a swap and go and then it would be retail ready to market to my clients! The gunsmith advised me that the bolt carrier did not fit inside the channel and the hand guard did not fit. He recommended to keep it in the original E1 set up. My grand plans were all but ruined and now I had an overpriced E6 kit! I moved on from it for a few weeks and then it occurred to me reach out to  @Aaron in Mohnton Pa at BeltFeds.ComI reached out to the BeltFeds email and Aaron said that he needed to do an inspection of the gun and more than likely he can get the kit installed on it! His comm's were lighting fast and clear. He gave me all the steps on how to send it to him. Once it arrived he put together a very thorough video saying all of the historical significance of my gun and the parts on it. I was pleasantly surprised that I had scored big on a 100% USGI factory Saco parts and the most rare "M60C" trunnion on the market! He figured out right away that there was a bump in the gas tube that was prohibiting the op rod from fully seating in it. He machined this out a few thousands of an inch and then had the kit installed and functioning properly! He even pointed out the E6 parts I was missing and then sold them to me at a very fair price! Aaron Demko is the guy you want inspecting and working on your M60! Big shout out to him and BeltFeds.Com

Needless to say all of my future M60's will be going to Aaron Demko and BeltFeds.Com to make sure that they are in 100% working order and so I can have all of the historical significance for my clients when they ask the hard questions!

@JoshNC, Thanks man... I appreciate that...... His gun is a registered Trunion Correction, the MFG registered the channl. The trunion has all the orignal markings etc on it still though ... Has a Saco M60C Trunion on it. The C trunion indicates it was a solenoid operated M60 from the factory. Which were primarily used on Huey Gunships in Vietnam. Some photos below of it.

Outstanding 60! What are the details of the gun? Registered channel or trunion?

And @Aaron in Mohnton Pa is absolutely the man for all things M60. He converted a customer’s 60 to E6 and the experience was exactly as you mentioned.

Hi, it actually has the manufacturer info and serial info on the button of the channel under the stock. It retains all origintrunion markings though which is pretty cool! It is for sale if you want more info. I’ll post it in a few days on here. Ty!

Congrats OP. Super nice M60 C you have there. I found a SACO M60 D "Marked" weapon 2 years ago and Aaron mentioned that the "D" was/is somewhat rear in the trans world. I also did the E6 upgrade and when I shoot the 60 in that configuration, not that the E1 was an issue but when shootin' the E6 set up, it's like the brass and links just waterfall out the side of the gun. Amazing how smooth...like taking Ex-lax:P
