drsullivan
Tried searching and couldn’t find an answer…What is the difference between a SG550 and SG550 Sport? It also has an emblem I’ve never seen before on the left side of the rifle. Edited October 31 by drsullivan

JoshNC
Can you post some photos? Iirc the 550 Sport was made for the German civilian market and heavy profile barrels without a flash hider and without a bayonet lug mounting boss.
AGG
No pictures, but described as I saw them. As you describe, it is probably manufactured per German law, or for sporting purposes. Tony

AGG
That is in Germany. I believe that the OP was referring to U.S. imports. Tony
JoshNC
I believe any US imports of the 550 Sport would have been gray market guns made for the German market and imported into the US. JoshNC
There was the Sig 550 Sporter imported by DS Arms in the late 90s. It had a 550 barrel with the FH removed and a thumbhole stock. But it is different from the heavy barrel 550 Sport.
