Reising trigger frozen when attempting to reassemble

Good evening gents, I’ve had my Reising for three years now, I’ve read Frank’s book cover to cover, I love the gun’s history (even if I wouldn’t trust my life to it).

But for the last week I’ve been stumped. Specifically having not replaced the springs in my gun since I’ve owned it, I ordered a wolf spring set and replaced out a number of them.

However for the life of me, I am struggling to figure out what’s wrong when reinstalling the trigger assembly. It just sits there with no movement, frozen in place. Has anyone had that issue before? Am I missing something stupidly simple?

Any recommendations/guidance would be greatly appreciated!

I replaced the springs in my Model 50 with a set Wolfe springs. Now when I pull the trigger the Model 50 may fire off 3 to 4 rounds in auto and stop. I then release the trigger and pull it again and it may fire off  3 to 5  more rounds in auto and stop. I release the trigger and pull it again and it may or may not empty the 20 round mag. Not sure what I screwed up when I replaced the springs and I HAVE NOT disassembled the Model 50 since I created this problem. The reason I replaced the springs was that I was having feeding issues like jams and breaking firing pins. I am considering sending this Model 50 to get it fixed but I don't know who to send it to and what is involved in sending a Full Auto weapon through the US Postal System. ANY comments or ideas or guidance is much appreciated.

It is hard to analyze a problem without examining the firearm, but I suspect that the auto-connector arm is disengaging from the action bar. Check the spring for the auto-connector bar. Also check the hook on the bar and the area on the action bar where it engages.

Another unrelated tip

When switching from FA to semi be sure to retract the action bar (cocking handle) 1/4" to disengage the auto connector lever from the action bar.  (as per the instruction manual) Failure to do so will result in the bending of the sheet metal L-shaped "leg" part of the selector, that is designed to lift the auto-connector lever off of the action bar. Once the leg is bent, the auto lever will remain engaged with the action bar, causing the weapon to fire in full-auto mode in the semi-auto position.

Here is a link to a video (not mine) on field stripping. Unfortunately there is annoying music instead of verbal instructions.

Disassemble your Reising and reassemble

Frank thank you for the link, I’ve actually known about that video for a year and used it as a guide when attempting this, and showed it to a friend at the local gunshop so he could take a crack at it. My best guess is that the trigger is bottoming out against the receiver, specifically it’s almost like there isn’t enough clearance for it to actuate on the spring. We’ve tried the original spring, the wolf, spring, and each has been a no go.

I assume that the trigger worked ok before disassembly?  Try moving the selector, to semi-full-safe, Check all the parts that the triggers actuates EG: the sear

After you figure out the problem, please post what the problem was as a reference to possibly help others facing a similar problem.

Good luck

Yes sir, it ran like a champ before I pulled it apart.

No disrespect, this is why some people shouldn’t take things apart without a full understanding of what it is. It’s a Reising, super minimal parts! Good luck, God speed.
