Shooting the Walther MPL

Recommended Posts

I really enjoy shooting my MPL, but always notice a "Twang" noise, or recoil spring vibration when shooting semi or full.

Extra noticeable when using ear muffs and the stock is in contact.

Does anyone else experience this ?

Is there a buffer that can be installed at the end of the recoil assembly ?

Or is this just the "Nature of the Beast?"

Any and all comments welcome. Thanks !!!

No twang on mine.  I’ve owned 2.  Sights suck, cheek weld sucks. Shoots a bit like a Uzi / slightly jumpy. Meh shooter imo.

doesn't hurt to put a chunk of rubber in the back to see what it does.  Value on presamples have doubled past few years!!

Hi Chopper: Yes, there is an unusual metallic noise in the MPL when shooting suppressed or not. Not sure if the MPK has this issue. Maybe a buffer behind the bolt would help. Will pull it out this weekend and try to figure it out. BP

I believe the twanging is coming from the cocking handle return spring! Maybe some strange harmonics in the metal receiver? Disassemble the gun, remove the bolt, and see if it does it just working the cocking handle. When I put the K upper on, there is no twang, perhaps the shorter return spring is the reason. Happy Shooting, BP
