JMPinTN
I came across a GB auction for B&T replacement wipes last night, and the add says “wipes must ship to FFL/SOT. How are wipes regulated? Do you have to do paperwork on the 4 packs of wipes once received by the FFL/SOT or simply pick them up and go on your way? How would that work if you bought the needed material off internet and cut out your own wipes? I feel like you would be able to cut out 100 wipes for the cost of 4 B&T precut wipes. Grasshopper
Hi JMPinTN, I'll give it a try. I'm sure others will correct my errors: IIRC, BATF decided any part of a suppressor was a suppressor so you can't have tubes, baffles, end caps and such lying about unless they assemble into a papered suppressor registered to you. AFAIK, you can't have spare parts lying about UNLESS your are a FFL/SOT. That being said, your FFL/SOT can order the wipes. The FFL/SOT can repair your suppressor with the new wipes. The repaired suppressor can be returned to you as the same suppressor. No transfer has taken place. The serialized part(s) may not be replaced w/o inadvertently creating a new suppressor and then it would need to transfer to you and a tax paid. Making your own wipes: I'm pretty sure that is not allowed. Reason: BATF considers the parts to be a suppressor in their logic. You can't manufacture a suppressor w/o submitting and getting an approved Form 1. I'm not sure what happened with our government today. Not sure if suppressors are still in the NFA? This may all be obsolete. Enjoy, Grasshopper
johnsonlmg41
you can have suppressor parts as long as they are for a suppressor you own. You can make your own wipes. No one wants to deal with the liability of openly selling any parts to just any rando on the net. What happened today is there is no tax on short stuff and suppressors, but the NFA is still in effect which is a good thing for a lot of people in various states that ban them without the NFA intact for those items. Sales/ form 1's of all those items will drop to zero until it kicks in, giving them a chance to catch up on other stuff. Net net, the only difference for those complaining the NFA is not gone on those items will be fingerprints and possibly a couple day wait. This also mostly eliminates straw purchases that would likely have had an adverse effect with over the counter sales had the NFA part been removed. For those that have questioned for years whether or not the Trumpster is pro gun...he is ambivalent. His kids on the other hand drove this, regardless of the NRA now claiming victory. They were against it before they were for it. Take the win, it could be the last one for a while.

Oh, good lord - I missed that. The last I'd seen was the Hearing Protection Act being pulled by that yammerhead Senate official. Didn't realize the $0 NFA tax for SBR/suppressors made it through. Not a complete victory, but a step in the right direction. At least now, there can be a viable resale market for such firearms.

The rinos can still snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, like they always do.
