Bill in Bama
Thanks, Todd, I thought you might come through. subgun24
I have had some success with the McFadden grip Loader adapter. It's still a work in progress but after many iterations, I think I have something worth more broad testing. I used it today and loaded a few magazines with it and successfully mag dumped them in the SW76. It loads the first 20-25 no problem, but as usual the last 15 or so take more strength but they do load if patient. If you want to print your own I can send you the STL file. PM me....

KickStand
I’m bringing SubGun24’s S&W 76 / MK760 22LR conversion kit to the Hernando Sportsman’s Club Machine Gun match (FL) in November. If you attend the Match, I’ll give you the opportunity to test his 22LR kit. It’s a work of art and runs like a pre war singer sewing machine. MPFiveO
I was able to get to the range today and test out one of the kits. I was in touch with the manufacturer periodically getting advice on installation and fitting since I don't own an actual S&W Model 76. I first tried installing the kit in my MK 760 which was made in Fruithurst Alabama. It's an early gun at serial number 17. That one was a no go. There's an issue with the spacing on the barrel adapter. It can probably be persuaded with some modification but I was eager to try out the kit today. I then attempted to install the kit in my Panama City produced 76A1. I fully expected problems but surprisingly the kit fit without issue. I did notice that the screw/bolt that holds the barrel adapter in place was too long. The bolt would have hit it and not closed far enough to set off a round. A few strokes with a file solved that problem and the kit fit as per the instructions. Of course the first magazine I tried gave me problems. There was a lot of bolt drag and it wouldn't fire. Then I tried a second magazine and while there was some drag it started to fire. By the time I got to the third mag it decided to run. I got back around to the first mag and wiggled it a good bit and it decided to join the other two and started working. I ran the kit with CCI Mini Mags, Winchester Super X copper plated, Federal Champion and Federal American Eagle. All worked excellent, however it did not like the Federal Automatch. Surprisingly it digested some of my decades old Federal bulk pack 36 grain copper plated hollow point ammo without protest. Overall, the kit is an absolute blast to shoot and probably one of the most reliable .22 conversion kits I've ever used. I still plan on doing some experimentation with the kit to see if I can get it to run reliably in both of my guns but right now I'm just ecstatic that it runs in one of them darn near flawlessly. This is what a .22 kit should do! I found the magazines easy to load and the loading tool wasn't really required for the most part. It was helpful when the mags got past 30 rounds. I'd definitely want an adapter for the McFadden Lightnin' Grip loader when this comes to fruition. I'm sure as the kit breaks in it will be more reliable. It ran pretty much flawless doing mag dumps. But it would fail to fire doing short bursts. This could be attributed to any number of factors, sear drag or who knows. But overall it likes to eat ammo and ran through at least 400 rounds. The kit doesn't even seem like it's dirty yet. It does seem to like to run relatively wet, at least in my gun. I'd highly recommend this kit to anyone who has a S&W 76 or any of the clones out there. The cyclic rate makes it a really fun gun to shoot. It's nothing like the M11 .22 kits that run nearly 2000 rpm. This kit is pretty much everything anyone could ever want in a .22 machine gun.
Delta-10
I remember seeing Uzi 22lr mags for sale on your site and of course I should have bought some right then because a couple days later they were out of stock. I kept checking back daily hoping that some more would show up but then after what seemed like two or three weeks you pulled down the link all together. Do you intend to make any more Uzi mags? Then I guess this question is for the rest of the guys on this thread who did happen to get some mags for their Uzi kits how well did they work out?

I’ve got 5k rounds through my kit and it’s running like a top. I think the mags need to be broken in to your mag well. To do this, you just keep inserting and removing the mags. After you do this a bit, the mag is somewhat formed to your magwells dimensions. It works great too. The funny thing is Auto match actually runs in my MK760 (I wasn’t expecting it to). I’m running NavGunner’s sear and trigger bar set (probably less drag). 10 hours ago, Chef said: Didn't even know he made UZI mags! subgun24
I created a video showing what I have found to be a successful break in procedure for the M76 .22lr conversion kit. I found that the feed lips and the extractor need to wear in and once that is done, the kit is very reliable and predictable. Of course I had to post on Rumble because youtube thinks my videos is showing something that it is not. https://rumble.com/v70ehsy-m76-22lr-conversion-kit-break-in.html?mref=4epf0s&mc=dnvff
MPFiveO
With today's trip to the range I'm well over 2000 rounds with my unit. Only occasionally is there a failure to feed and that's usually due to having the mag not properly seated all the way. They're a bit tight in the mag well of the Panama City gun. Once seated it feeds flawlessly. I've let numerous other people try it out at the range always watching for malfunctions. They just don't happen. This thing is incredibly reliable. I'm still watching for wear and tear but am not seeing anything serious so far. I've only cleaned the kit a couple of times, it's past 900 rounds now without cleaning and still running reliably. I didn't have time to clean it before today's trip to the range so it just got some oil sprayed on the bolt through the ejection port and bolt slot and allowed to migrate on the way to the range. It didn't miss a beat. This is probably one of, if not "the best" conversion kits I've ever used and hands down one of the best accessories ever made in the field of NFA items.

Forward and back movement is also minimal. They're just very snug going in, to the point that "I" don't always get them seated all the way. I just have to bump the mag with my palm and make sure it's fully seated. That's all on me and not a defect in any of the dimensions in my opinion. I'd rather have the mags snug which will keep them reliable. I have never had luck with sloppy fitting magazines.
Bill in Bama
All I can add to the performance tests is that my gun is dead on reliable. I took it out last Saturday and fired about a brick of .22 through it, only two ftf and both were what I deem as faulty rounds, had a primer strike but no bang. This is, as Pat has said, the most reliable 22 conversion I've ever experienced. My Atchison kit works great in my M16 but has few hiccups. My LM7 was great fun when it worked but a bit finicky and sometimes gave me fits. This is totally reliable and I love it.

Bill in Bama
I've added one more item to my wish list: A threaded barrel. I seem to recall someone saying Todd was working on this, so I hope this is so. On the subject of the McFadden loader, I've had almost no luck at all in loading mags with the thing. Todd sent me the adapter which fits perfectly, but I can't seem to get the rounds to come out of the McFadden at anywhere near the proper angle to go into the mag through the adapter. I don't think its the fault of the adapter at all, but the loader. Maybe I got a dud. But as has been said, they aren't that hard to load by hand and the last few go in fine with the loader that comes with the kit. This thing is just too much fun. subgun24
Bill. My early design for the McFadden adapter was flawed. I have what I would call a perfected McFadden adapter I can send you. I also one for the UZI mags. Threaded barrels with 1/2-28 adapter are on there way in limited quantity. woodenword
So, Saturday afternoon I finally, based on all the reviews here, decided to pull the trigger on one of these kits. Unfortunately, it showed the kits with threaded barrels as being out of stock. So I sent an email asking when they would be back in stock. Todd replied within 15 minutes to tell me they would be in stock in about a week and if I wanted, he would show it in stock so I could go ahead and place my order! Great customer service! Hope the kit works as well in my Irvine MK760 as well as they have worked for everyone else! 1

Then I went to the range and fired off 40 rounds from each mag (I have six). Every one worked perfectly, only two FTF and both were ammo problems, light primer strike or similar. This thing rocks! Now if I can just get a threaded barrel, plus the new loader adapter, plus some more mags, my Christmas list is filling up fast!

Looking for feedback on how the installation has gone and how the performance has gone. Anyone with a Fruithurst MK760 try it yet? I had been following the conversations/threads here and on Uzitalk on Subgun24's .22lr conversion kit for the S&W 76 and MK-760. I was really encouraged by all the positive reviews and particularly comments from Kickstand. I decided to get a kit and 3 extra magazines, for a total of 6 magazines for my S&W 76 1,9XX serial range. I am very fortunate because Mr. Subgun24 himself lives a short drive from me. He also shoots at a monthly match that I participate in so I often seen him there. He was gracious enough to meet me at a local range yesterday (12/18/25) and helped me set up the kit in my gun, discussed various spring lengths, the break-in procedure, and basically be an all-around awesome guy. We did minimal shooting then, and today I went to another range in the area where myself and my daughter really gave the kit a good workout. We put about 1,000 rounds of CCI-Mini mags through it. After about 2 or 3 jams while breaking in the magazines, the remaining 997 rounds were flawless. This, in my experience with .22 kits, is incredible. I did no fiddling/tweaking or anything. It was just shoot and shoot without issue. The ejection was very positive and consistent. We pretty much were shooting short bursts of 2 to 5 or so rounds, but did larger strings as well with no issue. We used all 6 magazines during this trip to the range. I did not try shooting semi-auto today, though we ran into issues yesterday while setting up the kit shooting in semi for whatever reason. Perhaps we hadn't done enough of a break in session. Today my daughter and I could easily get 2-shot bursts but pulling singles with the selector set to full auto will require a bit more trigger time for me to master. The only issue we ran into was leading in the last quarter of the barrel toward the muzzle. I have gotten my Uzi .22 lr conversion kit barrel leaded after the barrel gets a bit hot, and it can be a chore to remove the lead. Using elbow grease and a sturdy cleaning rod I got all the fouling out. In my opinion, this kit is a must have for S&W 76/MK-760 owners. If you are on the fence about it, I would strongly encourage you to get one. I rarely shot my 76 previously because it had a high cyclic rate, I couldn't hit squat with it, and it beat up the end cap shooting in 9mm. With this .22 kit that has changed. I likely will have to get a red dot mount to dial things in regarding accuracy. We did not really "put it on paper," rather shooting clumps of grass on the berm and the like. Obviously when the barrel got leaded, the accuracy went out the window. I can't figure out how to attach photos here, but in a post on Uzitalk.com I attached some pictures of the kit as I was cleaning things this evening. Really looks nice. Looking forward to shooting it more. I should add, Subgun24 provided multiple recoil springs. I was using the "break in" spring, which was the longest of them.
Bill in Bama
Bigu2fan;, you're finding out what the rest of have experienced, almost total reliability, which from ANY full auto weapon is virtually unheard of. I guess I better heck my barrel for leading, I can't attest to accuracy since I've not really been concerned with it so far, my grandsons who shoot are just doing mag dumps and smiling. Todd told me he's had a hiccup with the threaded barrel so it will probably be next year (so long away!) until they are ready. These sort of things happen all the time in manufacturing and based on everything he has supplied us so far I have no doubt it will be fixed and properly. I'm would attach a file of my 10 yr old grandson shooting on Thanksgiving afternoon, but the type file I have it in is not supported here. All four that came along had a blast shooting the 76 in .22 LR!
bigu2fan
I went to the range again today to do some more testing / familiarization with Subgun24's .22lr S&W 76 / MK-760 kit. I started off shooting the S&W 76 with the selector set to semi-auto, and there was pretty much flawless function. My magazines were loaded to 30 rounds (as opposed to capacity of 40), and occasionally the first pull of the trigger on a full mag resulted in two shots fired. Perfect function on semi-auto for the remainder of the magazine. After a few mags of this I did more shooting mainly in full-auto, where function again was flawless. I used CCI Mini-Mags and the longer "break in" recoil spring that comes with the kit. I tried one of the shorter springs and there were immediate failures. The shorter spring had enough "oomph" to strip a round off the magazine and into the chamber, but not enough "oomph" to detonate the primer. I also tried some Federal in a 325-round bulk pack. The kit did not like the Federal ammo. Back to CCI Mini-Mags and the kit kept chugging along with incredible reliability. A total of 700 rounds fired of CCI Mini-Mag with no jams. More kudos to Subgun24. Hope this might be useful to folks who are considering one of the kits. --bigu2fan
Bill in Bama
I only had one spring in my kit (early batch) but it has worked flawlessly, so I assume I have the "break-in" spring as you call it. I have several parts and accessories on my wish list, just waiting on the threaded barrel to make an order. It will include an extra recoil spring as well as some mag springs "just in case." subgun24
Bill. Your spring is the regular spring. I started shipping the longer spring with the kit after you. The longer spring isn't necessary, it just makes break in more fun. The threaded barrels are taking longer than we thought but should be happening real soon.

bigu2fan
I put another 700 rounds of CCI Mini Mag through my kit today in a S&W 76 with ZERO jams, using a total of 7 different magazines. Shooting semi and full auto. This kit and the magazines are more reliable than my 10/22. Really incredible. Kit has 3,000 rounds on it now. Buy one if you can!
MPFiveO
Had mine out to the range again yesterday as well. Put several hundred more rounds through it without issue. The only type of malfunction I've experienced at all is the bolt failing to fully strip a round from the magazine occasionally. This issue might be limited to my host and the way one particular magazine fits. It happens so seldom it's not really an issue. I've had zero problems with extraction and ejection. I'm reasonably sure I've passed the 5000 round mark. I have a can of 5000 loose that's almost empty and friends and I have tried hundreds of rounds of various types of ammo. When tabulating mean rounds between failures this is on a par with the most reliable machine guns I've ever shot. And I've shot a lot of machine guns over the last 35 years. I've let routine maintenance slip by the wayside. I normally clean .22's every 500 rounds or so. I've gone way past 1000 rounds since the last cleaning. There's crud caked all over the chamber face and bolt face. I can't figure out why I haven't had a misfire or out of battery discharge yet. I'm not purposely abusing the kit, but it does seem that I'm pushing the limits of what should be expected from a rimfire cartridge disassembly machine. It does not complain. I can't recommend this kit highly enough. I also can't praise it enough. It's so rare these days, in the age of plastic guns and cheap crap, to come across a product that not only delivers performance but keeps on delivering. I'm beyond satisfied with it's performance. Bill in Bama
Pat, this has been my experience too, dead reliable. I cleaned mine this morning and it was surprisingly free of buildup, some powder but nothing real heavy. I took time to really get the bolt pristine, not sure how long that will last. I'm anxious for the threaded barrel to arrive, gonna put some standard velocity downrange and see how it does with my can attached.
The Dude
I too have had almost zero malfunctions. Most were early-on and I attribute that to break-in and some crappy hollow point bulk ammo that I was trying to use up. The reason for this post is to recommend getting spare extractors. One of my failures was an out of battery and it broke my extractor. Luckily I have spares so it was just a brief disruption.
subgun24
I have newly designed mags listed on my website. They have a looser fit, they lock in better and have witness holes at 10,20,30 and 40 rounds. If anyone thinks they would benefit from upgrading their existing magazines to the latest design, I have an upgrade listed on my website for my cost $8 each. Upgrade package includes a tool to remove the pin and take apart the mag and then change the mag body and then reuse your existing springs, magtop follower etc. It requires assembly but is pretty straight forward and easy. Rather than threading existing barrels and use a thread adapter, we are having new barrels made which will be 4.5” long and have a 1/2 28 threaded end. Much better solution. Unfortunately it will take a few weeks. Anyone who previously ordered and is waiting I apologize. Same goes for kits. I placed an order for additional parts and am now waiting on those. A couple weeks wait.
subgun24
For everyone waiting patiently for the threaded barrel. Good news I have the first prototype in hand and have approved it for production. So I will be shipping as soon as production is in hand. Took this video today of the kit running with a suppressor on the short "K" barrel. The barrels will be parkerized like the full size barrels.
Double Tap Firearms
I just bought two cases of 22lr can't wait :-)
WTC
Does it have 2 thread protectors? Looks like 2 in the picture. Can you show the threaded end without the protector?
subgun24
The prototypes threaded end was made too long so I have 2 thread protectors on it. The production barrel will have 1/2 x 28 and will be .5" long with 1 thread protector.

Bill in Bama
The waiting is hard, but just like the kit, it will be worth it. Todd is meticulous in his workmanship and I’m sure it’s very frustrating for him to have to back up and change directions just when he thought everything was set. To his credit he follows through until the project is done right. We’re very fortunate to have him and Austin providing all these goodies for us to play with. subgun24
Thanks Bill. Appreciate it. It took longer than expected but I’m super happy with how it turned out. Edited February 15 by subgun24

Good things always take time. If it was easy someone would have done it already.
KickStand
Ran 3 different kinds of ammo through SubGun24’s new Threaded K barrel (with and without a can). This barrel will likely stay on the gun, runs like a top and it’s quite with it too (the microphone increases the sound).
subgun24
I designed a brand new recoil spring for the M76 .22LR conversion kit that will make your kit run even better. The spring is so perfect for the kit that I am giving them away to kit owners. So If you would like one, or two please stop by my website and all you pay is shipping. www.subgun.store Here is a video using the new recoil spring with a custom 50 round magazine that I used to really test it out. clc3251
When will the 50 round mags be available?
subgun24
I will try to make a batch of the 50 round magazines and see how it goes in quantity. They are about as big as my machine will allow. Will let you know later this week. Another thing that I want to mention is that I redesigned the McFadden Lightnin' Loader Adapter this weekend. It works much better now. I was even able to fully loaded the 50 round magazine with it. Today, I sent out the updated loader adapters to everyone who had ordered one in the past. So if anyone who had ordered one doesn't receive it by next week, I probably missed you somehow. Please email me.....

If this doesn’t show what a first class operation Todd is running I don’t know what could. He keeps improving his designs and sends them to past customers voluntarily on his own dime even without being asked. Who else does that!?
KickStand
Todd, really came in clutch with this one! Big thank you to SubGun24 with a new and updated free spring. I should be able to test it this weekend and report back.
