Schellfeuer
Why are parts kit becoming more expensive & rare now? I remember when parts kit were cheap. Like PPSH41, Sten MK2, and etc they were easier to find. Now it’s becoming more less, every time I try to find parts.
Mark2
Supply vs. demand + inflation. I remember buying Fleming HK Auto Sears for $500.

We definitely living in a silent depression. Sad to say that parts kit prices will never come back like it was years ago.
SGT Fish
the fallout from the cold war has been calming down. Lots of those parts kits came from former Soviet countries that needed money after the split, or they were re-arming to western weapons. We are also getting further and further from their production dates, meaning they are getting rarer and rarer. That being said, some stuff is still coming in "cheap." PM-63, pps-43, and vz-61 kits are are very cheap compared to everything that isn't being imported lately

PM63 is not really that popular compared to other parts kit. The Vz61 are kinda popular but still better than the PM63

Lack of import is a small part, but the explosion of 02/07 play toys and no letter samples is 90% of the increase. Effectively an increase in renters as seen across the economy from luxury cars, to expensive housing, to machine gun rentals with a fee of 500 a year. No increase in equity in any of them. I'd conservatively say 98% of MG social media/u-tube guns are post samples for clicks. 7 out of 10 luxury cars are rentals.
Ryo
You got to think of how long some of these surplus stuff has been coming out. Resources/availability is dwindling making it more harder to find and more expensive. What kills me on a lot of these kits is the unavailability of barrels and receiver parts. Vz61 and pm63 are both fun and easy builds. Pps43 is easy too but I have less appeal to it. I wish I bought the cuban MAG58 kit when they were available.. so expensive. Same with the M60 being expensive.
Frank I
Its seems like after COVID, prices have increased on EVERYTHING. MG Part prices have really increased, for many reasons as posted above. Recently, a grease gun parts kit sold for more than I paid for my transferable M3A1 in 1993. After 80+ years WWII parts are finally drying up, even the CMP has announced that they are running out of original M1 Garand rifles.
MPFiveO
Everyone has made good replies and everyone is correct. All of the above is true. Supply and demand. Inflation. Stockpiles are running out. Post Covid runaway inflation. Bottom line is, everything costs more now than it did in 2020. If you find what seems like a deal on something now it's probably because nobody wants it. I don't know about every market, but nothing in the firearms market comes to mind that costs the same now as it did in 2020.
GUNBUGS
It just takes a bigger pile of worthless dollars to buy the same kit as years ago. The parts kit hasn't changed, the change is in the value of the dollar.
JoshNC
In addition to all the replies above, the sellers overseas are also more savvy to the value of these parts kits and the costs of acquisition have increased.
