SOT Renewal form

did you renew online?  I don't think they send renewal forms out any more.

If you renew online (pay.gov) it takes about 2-3 weeks to get the new SOT by mail

(I received an email reminder from the ATF in early April, I renewed (online) on April 24, and received the paper SOT by mail about 2 weeks later.)

I have always renewed online, but they used to send out a reminder in April. I didn't get a notice this year.

Fortunately, I remembered and painlessly paid on gov.com

When I got my FFL last year and the IOI was here interviewing me, this subject came up.  He said that I would only get an email reminder to renew my SOT, not a mailed one.  Take that for whatever its worth (my experiences and $5 will get you a cup of coffee, right? :-)  )

My paper form arrived yesterday.  WRONG!  I just glanced at it and laid it on my desk.  Went to copy it to send to vendors and noticed it is my FFL renewal instead.  Doh!  So I still don't have my new SOT like I thought.  I'm getting too old for this....

I receive a email notice in April , I renewed the very next minute online and received my 2026 SOT , (5630.6A) on April 25th . It's not that hard the process is very easy .

Lot of dealers don't even know about this , It's kind of hard to make some understand !!!!

May firearms be shipped to a licensee at an address different from the business premises address identified on the license?

Yes. Neither the GCA nor its implementing regulations require firearms be shipped only to the licensed business premises. Therefore, a licensee may lawfully receive firearms at the licensee’s mailing address, storage location, or other address where the licensee intends to ensure safe and secure receipt of the firearms.

You are not applying for approval for an SOT, you are just paying the tax. Yes, once you can show the tax was payed you are good to go, but like GotUzi said your distributors will want a hard copy emailed before they will send you products.

I paid mine on 6/2, and the credit card charge actually processed on 6/5.  I called on Friday 6/27 to make sure that there weren't any problems (like an incorrect address).  I got an email back this morning saying that my SOT renewal was approved on 6/24 and to expect up to 30 days to actually receive it.

So it appears that there is some form of approval going on.  Next year I'm paying mine just after income tax filing season is done.

*edit/update*  Well, mine showed up in today's mail.  Couldn't have been more timely lol

I called to ask what was taking so long.  A woman said she'd look around and email me.  A few days later she emailed that she had no record of my SOT, gave me another email address to ask.  I forwarded that email and someone replied, saying there was a mistake in my address.  Looks like my home address had auto-populated on the pay.gov site, which isn't my business address.  They said to print out the form, correct it, scan and email back.  Minutes later they emailed back that I was approved and the SOT was going in that day's mail.  That was a week ago today.
