Extremely-Early FULLY-TRANSFERABLE Belgium FN-FAL For Sale

Manufactured in June 1958, shortly after the 7.62X51mm cartridge was standardized by NATO, this Belgian-manufactured FN-FAL (Fusial Automatique Leger) was manufactured for the Federal Republic of Germany and designated the G1 (Gewher 1).  The G-1 was employed by the Bundesgrenzschutz, the West German Border Guard, from 1956 to 1959. This FN-FAL is one of those Border Guard weapons. Google “pictures of West German Border Guards” and you will see the G-1 in use.

This completely original FN-FAL is FULLY TRANSFERABLE.  It was imported into the United States between October 22,1968, when the Gun Control Act went into effect and May 19,1986 when the Firearms Owners Protection Act went into effect.

It was imported and first registered by an ATF Form Two to a law enforcement agency in Michigan, under 26 U.S.C 5844.  I acquired this early G1 FN-FAL from that police department in 1987 as a Pre-1986 Dealer Sample.  However, since this particular FN-FAL was not imported for a dealer to use as a Sales Sample, but was imported as a Law Enforcement weapon, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has recently reclassified such imported Law Enforcement weapons, lifting the Dealer Sample restriction. As a result, this machine gun has met the 26 U.S.C. 5844(1) government use import exception, and therefore has been designated has FULLY TRANSFERABLE by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. The letter from NFA Branch of ATF confirming the fully-transferable status of this FN-FAL is attached for your review.

This exceptional example of a very early FN-FAL, is one of the most appealing of all the FN-FAL variations. Its bipod folds into the forward grip, and it includes an originally issued Hensoldt Wetzlar scope from the 1958 era, calibrated specifically for the 7.62X51mm NATO cartridge. FN-FAL’s were used by 90 countries and manufactured in 15 nations. The early variations, manufactured at FN’s headquarters in Belgium were of the highest quality.

The serial number, 89916, matches on the upper receiver and the lower receiver of gun itself and on the bolt. The serial number on the scope mount and the serial on the flash hider do not match. I have fired it no more than 200 rounds. It is in excellent condition.    $69,500
