CircularSquare88
So a transferable HK sear (in trigger housing) is able to mate with a MK46 without modification? I’m confused…or are these two non compatible with each other?

I’m confused…or are these two non compatible with each other? MGA SAW were designed around the HK trigger pack and differ from traditional FN M249/Minimi or MK46/MK48. There have been developments by MGA since their original introduction - including pistol variations. However MGA has expressed the HK trigger pack lower is compatible with their latest advancements which otherwise use more traditional M249 type firing control groups. The legality in the installation of transferable HK trigger packs has been questionable - now moreso with their latest open bolt designs in contrast to their initial closed bolt design. This was an issue in the 2000s when Ernie Wrenn/SOCOM MFG introduced open bolt M249 and RPD conversions for transferable MAC M10 receivers as manufacturing open bolt designs have been banned for civilians since 1982 and constitute the manufacturing of a new machinegun. Regardless of transferable or post sample HK trigger pack, MGA's advancements with their M249 does not require the end user to purchase a separate machinegun and maintain the machinegun registration with their HK trigger pack. Normal Guy
Round count? Just wondering how tight it is and if the barrels have a lot of life.
Metalliatic
I got it used a few years ago. I’ve shot it very little, barrels are very easy to source.
tangouniform
Super gray area. My $.02 is that this installation is only allowable by SOT/manufactures to make a post-sample MG. ATF FTB Letter 2009 I spoke to John Kokinis at length back in the day about this and he never would verbally say yes to a civilian owned transferrable pack. Mike Ott argues that the ATF made a determination that HK packs can only go into HK Guns (and their sister clones) and it is verboten into the MGA MK46. I have no dog in this fight, but just beware of what may or may not be cool. You can read since 2009, there has been much discussion on this topic, and still to this day. I have never seen a determination letter posted online from the ATF FTB saying that you can do this. There are others out there saying they have one, which may be a one off for their gun, but if it was ok, why isn't there one out there for everyone to see? https://www.sturmgewehr.com/forums/index.php?/topic/1558-wts-belt-fed-mk46-m249-7850-only-one-left/ https://www.ar15.com/forums/armory/MK46-with-registered-HK-triggerpack/22-520863/ Edited April 25, 2025 by tangouniform 1
