flgunguy
I used Mak Arms years ago but lost his contact and can't find anything online for him. Does anyone know of a competent gunsmith who has experience with these guns and won't take 1 year to get to your gun?
WB1775
Mark has been out of the game for a few years now. Depending on what you are wanting done, there is a bunch of info on Weaponsguild and I believe a few guys making parts for them as well. MPFiveO
It might help to know what the issue is. Does it have a functional issue that could be fixed with replacement parts or does it have cracked metal requiring welding and refinishing? flgunguy
Well it doesn't really have a known issue, I just wanted to get it checked over and spruced up if needed before shooting. Don't want to fire the first round and have an issue.
MPFiveO
Have you function checked it? Not a lot can go wrong with an open bolt gun. Does bolt move back and forth freely under spring pressure? Check, then good to go. There's a selector above the trigger that seldom gets moved to the semi auto position. You can see if the disconnector trips and the bolt locks back while holding the trigger. If the barrel is clean and there's a hole in it then it should send rounds downrange. The good thing about these is there's still plenty of parts kits and magazines available. Sometimes you just have to go through several mags to find good ones. Remember, these guns were made by communists. The only truly important parts would be the bolt, recoil spring and buffer. I remember shooting one years ago that was absolutely reliable but it was a smoothbore and would make a shotgun pattern on a paper target with over half the bullets hitting sideways. Still worked like a champ though!
D Edwards
don't try to fix something before you know it is broke.
