ozziemo27
As the title states, I was wondering if there would be much interest in the community for Converted mg-13 magazines that work in the Type 99 Nambu? As we know the original mags are hard to come by and expensive so the alternative throughout history seems to resort to converted mg-13 mags. I had a small quantity of adapters made and welded the first mag this weekend with operational success. Not sure what details I can offer at this point as far as price, finish, etc, but wanted to gauge interest and see what interest there is. Thanks Edited March 12 by ozziemo27
Lzxray
First, I applaud your effort. IMHO, the market would likely be for those looking for a spare mag. Any 99 LMG missing an original mag would likely have one by now, either sourcing an original or a converted MG-13 mag which was available at KCR for several years. Those who have caliber conversions, 7.62 X 29, using AK mags or .308, using M14 mags, would likely not revert back to the original 7.7 caliber. Kevin Bartlett
FYI, the converted MG-13 mags work fine for a 99 converted to .308. My gun came with a carrier full of converted MG-13 mags and a mag loader. The loader has a spacer installed to keep the shorter .308 rounds properly positioned. ozziemo27
Thanks for the replies! I personally use my original mag with .308 with no problems to date. I have tested this converted mag with .308 as well and as long as you load the rounds all the way to the back, it seems to work thus far. Lzxray
Good to know! Jim Langely made a mag adapter so I could use standard (unmodified) M14 Mags as I wanted higher capacity options (30 rds, drum).
Kintepro
I have four pristine mg13 mags sitting around just in case I ever wanted to make spares for my 99. I've got a lot of other projects/expenses going on right now, but depending on cost, possibly would be interested in the future.
