"Most of todays people"

Recommended Posts

"Most of today's people" have a complete lack of inclination or longing for anything, no desires, wants, or needs, this could be described as a state of apathy - a lack of motivation or interest in anything, often considered a symptom of a mental health condition like depression where someone might feel emotionally detached and not care about things that previously interested them. That is why the majority of the forums are not performing in the Buy, Sell or Trade like they did years ago when people had desires, wants, or needs.

Rodney,

I have a background in training in both basic and advanced students.

I've see that change of the new students that come through the Pike.

Here's what I've determined;

Medical Doctors have determined that 70% of Male College Students at ASU (AZ) have 50% lower Testosterone Levels than in 1964.  Doctors are having to put Young Men on Testosterone Replacement as young as 30.  Testosterone for a Man not only maintains his physical and mental health, but also gives him his DRIVE, Initiative and his will to Procreate.  Without Testosterone a Man is basically a useless an Unproductive, Depressed Unich.

1) If you were born circa 1990 or later, you've been raised by a Computer/Electronic Device.  You're Childhood was void of learning basic Life's Lessons such as; the ability to self navigate around town; the ability to have a Conversation; the ability to develop analytical thinking and to 'think through a problem without Goglling it; learning about Fire, Gravity and Bodies In Motion(Basic Physics as a Kid).

2) The Parents of these Computer-Learned Kids have allowed their Adolescence to extend to their late 20's and early 30's.

3) They have no idea that Exercise, Hard Work and Natural Mental  Stimulation is good for your Physical and Mental Health.

4)  Weed is DOPE.  Use Weed and chances are you'll end up a DOPE.

5) You cannot expect to succeed in like or be productive the next day after using THC.

And here's the most critical degradation of this Generation;

a) Their Brains have been conditioned, (by the use of Computers and electronic devices) to have an Attention Span of 8-15 SECONDS and;

b) This Generation has ZERO mechanical aptitude/creativity and the ability to have an aptitude for Industrial Problem Solving.

IMHO this is why the U.S. is also experiencing a severe increase in Aviation Incidents, Vehicle Accidents and Pedestrian vs Vehicle Fatalities.

There's also a trend that a large percentage of 13-35 years old have become extremely violent, (I believe its the frequent use of high potency THC).

I fear that the U.S. will soon lose the Male Strength of Tenacity, Strength and Intuition of our previous Industrial Revolution.    Industrial creator of past created Automated Machinery with only the brain between their ears, No Computers No Internet Searches and no AI.

If I had my druthers I'd ban Minors under 18 from having access to Social Media and Unrestricted Access to Non-Educational and Nefarious Themes on the Internet.

I believe you hit the nail on the head. Even before YouTube and TicTok, or whatever its called, I knew that television was destroying attention span. When you read a book it is a long term adventure but television shows have a beginning-middle and end in a half hour. That was before today where it's all wrapped up and completed in 30 seconds. It is almost like it was planned to destroy a generation.

I remember when I was a jerk in high school…heavy metal, video games, D&D, drugs, alcohol and a bunch of other crap was being made out to be the cause of my actions.  I didn’t do video games, D&D or drugs, but I loved me some metal and alkyhaul!  Banning any or all of it wouldn’t have made me refrain from it.  It would have made me want it more, as a matter of fact.

While there were external influences with the choices I made, I was the one that made them and it was part of growing up.  If you’re really part of the gun culture, you know that bans accomplish nothing.

Throughout time, the younger generation is always the problem and the senior generation never seems to figure out how to solve the problems.  I can blame boomers for the problem I used to be and solve nothing.  Same as blaming millennials for their shortcomings does nothing for me.

All anyone can do is be the best version of themselves as they can be.  Then you can reach out to your family and friends.  If you get beyond that, there are plenty of neighbors that can be helped.  Very few people can get beyond that and serve their town, let alone a county, state or the country.  With that, you can clearly see why there are no politicians that can serve our interests.  They’re too busy serving their own…especially at the local level.

In today's world, there are few neighbors I would consider worthy of helping. The lone example being helping them carry their stuff into a u-haul so they can move away from me quicker.
And it's only going to get worse as the younger generations buy houses.

I guess that has a great deal to do with where you live. We moved to the country in 2021. I lost my wife of 36 years in 2023. While I do have a few undesirable neighbors (Cali lesbians & their followers) for the most part it's like where I grew up. You wave to to everyone if y'all know each other or not. You talk to your neighbors, and invite them into your home. We help each other out & actually do things together. If I only knew about this place 30 years earlier.

We have great neighbors.  We have built the relationships over time though and they are more in the friends and family category.  If you haven’t been able to develop it with your neighbors, you’re probably still taking care of family and friends.  Nothing wrong with that at all.

Chances are that your duly elected idiots can’t tend to the fires at home, let alone what’s happening in your neighborhood or their district.  That’s one premise of my post.  Another one is that I was more of a bastardo than any of these weak fuzz-nuts could ever be, but that changed over time with the right people in my life.

THE SECRET TO THE GREATEST GENERATION (WWII ERA)

I was extremely lucky to know and was mentored by a few WWII Vets.

One in particular was a "self-taught" Satellite Communications Engineer.  Dave worked for a large Aerospace Company doing cutting edge Classified COMMS Engineering in the 60s-80's.

Since I was also a COMMS Tech we would talk about all the high level electrical theories and open source projects he worked on and how he overcame engineering obstacles along the way..  He could take a highly advanced theory and translate it into simpleton verbiage that I understood..lol

I was in awe of Dave, as Dave grew up very Poor in the 1920-30s's and, as a Child he hung out at a Radio/TV Repair Store next to his Mom's One Bedroom Apartment.  At 12 years old he learned electrical theory, vacuum tube theory etc,  all without any advanced or college education.

Dave told me stories when he and his friends would "reallocate" electrical-type parts/components around the neighborhood in order to build their own low power tube powered transmitting stations.  Dave and his friends would send Morse code to each other at night. Dave later served in US AAC in WWII as a Radio/COMMS Technician.

After Dave passe away  I would always wonder and try and figure out how, this self-taught Genius, became so incredible intelligent, WITHOUT AN Encyclopedia, any  COMPUTER OR any ADVANCED DEGREE etc.

Then once day it dawned on me.

Growing up all my Friend Dave had was;

1) A #2 Pencil;

2) A Piece of Paper and;

3) His imagination.

Technically he had no design or schematic as a starting point.

He started with;

4) His knowledge of a Technical Theory as a Starting Point and;

5) A Goal

6) Then he would start basic R&D, from a very young age.  He eventually evolved into developing cutting edge Satellite Communication Systems

I had know Dave for 10 years and he was always a silent professional type.  One day he let it slip that he was in a Dragnet TV Show.

Dave was also a former Radio Technician for LAPD.  Dave let it slip that he was portrayed by Dennis Weaver in a 1950's Dragnet Episode "The Big Screen."

Dave's Life's legacy is the exemplar of the Greatest Generation that Built the America that we enjoy today..

I'm afraid that were losing this part of our Brain Development and Natural Creative Power (due to the common heavy reliance of Computers and now with AI).

Btw, I agree with every previous posts.
