TARHEEL
Sold Colt AR15 / SP1 Small Pin Machine Gun $30,000 Amnesty Registered. Item is in our registry and ready to eform 3 to your dealer or eform 4 to you if you are an NC resident. We received this Colt from a local family. It is an AR15/ SP1 model with small pin lower. I assume the previous owner had the large to small pin conversion done on the lower. There of some signs of pitting on the side of the receiver and looks to have been refinished. Looks go have a Geissele trigger in it. Serial number is in 1600 range so I image it was made in 1964. Mississippijoe
Sure would like to see a closer shot of the roll marks, have never seen a partial fence sp1.
HHollow
Look at the selector stops. Unmilled. Looks like either a factory MG or a one off.
jrh
A 1964 AR-15 SP1 did not have selector stops on it. https://thecoltar15resource.com/1964-catalog/
eMGunslinger
Thats not an SP1 receiver at all. I could see someone welding and machining the selector stops, maybe pinning and welded on the fence. But the real tell is the rear where the buffer tube goes in as well as the area for the rear takedown pin detent when looking at the right side of the gun. No way someone would have recut that as well as add all the other things going on with this gun.

Looks like a Colt 604 with the markings “PROPERTY OF U.S. GOVT. M16 CAL. 5.56 MM SERIAL XXXXX” removed and SP1 markings added in its place, lots of what looks like pitting around where the traditional 604 markings would be. Also, a Colt SP1 will have Safe and Fire markings for the selector. This one has the standard M16 markings with Safe, Semi and Auto. Looks like someone did the old Switch-a-Roo here with the receiver markings and this could be Totally Illegal. All that pitting around the serial number / receiver markings is very suspect. KickStand
If this gun could talk, I bet it would have some cool stories. Guessing it was hot, then the housewife registered it through the amnesty with it’s new serial and in turn making it legal amnesty gun. Cool Amnesty gun.
