AWC tac Nine question

Hello All:

I recently received an old school AWC Tac nine can. It has a 3 lug  attachment in the form nut about an inch long with female threads

Suppressor has male threads to screw into the 3 lug piece

There is no spring with it

when i put the 3 lug piece over the barrel and screw the suppressor down, it gets super tight

it wont "quick release" since the suppressor screws of the 3 lug piece independently.

Is this how its supposed to work

Even though rock solid ,I am afraid to shoot it

any input will be appreciated

I have the exact same AWC can I bought NIB from Lynn in 1993 when they were released. Had my C3 then and AWC "faxed" ATF the Form 3 and was approved with-in two days. Upon my receipt of the TAC 9 suppressor, the contents were instructions, one piece can and the 3 lug piece as described in OP's statement. You are indeed correct there are no additonal washers, springs etc. in terms of mounting requierments. So install tighten and shoot away!

That mount was designed by Tim Bixler in Houston.  Bixler worked with/for AWC at one time.  It has been used on AWC, GemTec, Curtis Tactical (Now Shaw), GSL, and others.

It does not use a spring lock mechanism, like you found out, you tighten it once the. lugs are locked on the 3-lug.  It is not the fastest to mount, but I like it much better than the spring loaded mount.

I don't know about others but I have had baffle strikes on the spring loaded 3-lug mounts (MK9K).  Either the spring wasn't strong enough or the can was too heavy.  I had Dater them switched to the Bixler mount and no issues since.
