Thank you Sturm and a big thank you to all of the very knowledge and professional fellow C3 enthusiasts who inquired about the AUGs.

[ January 23, 2025 - AUG CQC A3 #1USA-716 & QM f/a sear #A-256 are sold ]

New in original, correct factory boxes, two sequentially-serialized Steyr AUG CQC A3 5.56/.223 machine-guns. These f/a AUG CQC A3s were built by the US's foremost authority (at least aside from the senior gunsmith at Steyr USA) on the AUG platform -- Pete Athens owner of PJA's Investments Company in Charlotte, NC. Pete only made these two f/a AUG CQC A3 machine-guns. Due to the fact that Pete engraved the CQC rail kits, these are one of a kind AUG CQC A3s which cannot be duplicated.

Pete built these two AUGs expressly for me 15 years ago. The foundation rifles were NIB Sabre Defence Industries  AUG A3s with serials #1USA-716 & #1USA-717. Sabre only made about 3,000 AUGs before getting sideways with the US State Department for shipping f/a M4s to US contractors deployed in the sandbox w/o a legitimate end user certificate. This resulted in the loss of their manufacturing license. Here's a link that gives a very brief history of Sabre:  https://shootingsavvy.com/whatever-happened-to-sabre-defense/

Because of their rarity and exceptionally high quality manufacture, the Sabre AUG are highly sought after by knowledgeable AUG collectors. There are currently s/a Sabre AUG CQCs listed at $7K. Sabre's receivers are known as the finest AUG receivers Steyr ever manufactured and have an unblemished record of reliability, exhibit extremely tight tolerances and also have a superb finish. The Sabre AUGs originally came with 16.0" hammer-forged, chrome-lined barrels (which were manufactured by FN America).

These AUG f/a hammer-packs were built from new Steyr f/a hammer-packs with Qualified Manufacturing of Broken Arrow, OK, registered sears serials #A-062 & #A-256 installed to replace the original non-registered sears.

These A3s are 99.9% identical to the f/a rifles Steyr currently produces for military and law enforcement clients (the only difference is explained below regarding their stock retention pins). They have the correct f/a stock, f/a bolt carrier assembly w/ anti-bounce pins, f/a hammer-pack and f/a cocking piece. [ Note: Have received several inquiries as to how Pete was able to install f/a stocks on s/a receivers. Pete accomplished this by having the f/a stock's retention pins expertly milled so they would fit the s/a AUG receivers narrower stock retaining pin channel on the underside of the receiver. This operation only removed a few thousands of an inch of metal and in no way compromises the integrity of the f/a stock retention pins (there's plenty of metal left). The sole function of the AUG's stock retention pin is to affix the stock to the receiver -- the stock pins incur no recoil stress. Even if these pins were fabricated from plastic they would be strong enough to secure the stock to the receiver. Please refer to the photographs below showing both the f/a stock pin profile and the underside of the s/a receivers. You can clearly see the narrowed profile of the f/a stock pins and also see that the stock pin channels on the underside of the s/a receivers have in no way been modified -- again, these two AUG s/a receivers have never been modified. ]

Only 500 of the Steyr CQC rail kits were ever manufactured. If you can find one of these CQC rail kits for sale expect to pay between $2,500 - $3,000 (have seen prices on GB as high as $5-6K) -- just for the rail kit. These rail kits allow for mounting accessories at the 12, 3, 6 & 9 o'clock positions. They work very well with the included Steyr detachable vertical grip which, unlike the standard vertical grips affixed to the AUG barrels, allows for a multitude of forward grip placement options.

Pete only engraved 15 of the CQC rail kits. He kept five of them, I've got the other ten units. When he sold his engraved rail kits ( installed on Sabre s/a AUG A3s ) they went for between $6,000 - $8,000 per rifle on GunBroker (and that was many years ago). Unless you've had the opportunity to actually hold and inspect one of the CQC rail kits in your hands, it's difficult to appreciate their outstanding  fit and finish. The CQC kits were CNC milled from solid bar stock by an aerospace military contractor and have exceptionally tight tolerances. All the rail segments are precisely cut, crisp and sharp. There are no machining marks or other visible blemishes. With the additional weight of the kits installed at the front of the stock, the AUG - which is already well known for its outstanding controllability in f/a fire mode - becomes even more controllable with virtually zero muzzle rise during f/a fire. For detailed information on the Steyr CQC rail kits please visit this link: http://www.steyrauga3cqc.com/

Each AUG CQC A3 rifle package includes new Steyr AUG barrels in all four lengths: 14.5" SMG ( these are original factory 14.5" barrels, not cut-down barrels - these came from Steyr w/o flash suppressors, new flash suppressors/shims are included in each package ), 16.0" Carbine, 20.0" Rifle & 24.0" SAW.

Other new Steyr parts included: complete small-parts replacement kit, the gas plug required to run the AUGs with a suppressor, the buttstock cleaning kit (including the buttstock compartment cover), Steyr detachable vertical grip, Steyr AUG rifle sling, muzzle cap, A3 owners manual, CQB rail kit installation instructions (not pictured), (5) 30rd black-bottomed waffle-pattern magazines and a limited edition Steyr-badged soft transport case (these Steyr-badged transport cases are high quality and quite rare). Also included is a set of NIB Magpul MBUS Pro (metal) front and rear flip-up BUIS sights.

In order to house all of the barrels/accessories, each AUG CQC A3 rifle package includes 3 pristine inner and outer AUG boxes. All three of the inner boxes are correctly badged w/ three correct matching labels. Pete's connections with Steyr allowed us to get the properly labeled sets of boxes. All of these boxes were originally shipped inside of an exterior shipping carton -- there's no dirt, tears, holes, etc. on any of them....they are in perfect condition.

Safe Queens -- always stored in a climate controlled vault. The stocks and buttpads have been periodically coated with a synthetic preservative treatment solution so they show no signs of oxidation. The metal parts were always protected with a light coat of oil. The AUGs have never been fired or handled. I am the original owner. These are true investment grade firearms.

Both are currently on a Form 3s in SE ID. If you live nearby you may inspect it in person. Will transfer to ID residents on Form 4.

Asking $48.6K OBO per package. Payment via bank wire or Cashier's Check ( no trades desired ). Sales price includes insured shipping to your dealer.

May be returned for full refund ( less shipping the expense ), within three days of receipt by your dealer, if there is a material difference from photos or ad copy.

FFL/SOT for nearly 50 years. Happy to provide references. Please ask any/all questions and/or request additional photos.

Selling because it's time to start finding new homes for my collection so my estate doesn't have to deal with the complexities of the NFA.

PS. I removed one of the vertical folding front grips for the photos. That grip, its grip cap, spring and grip retaining pin will be included with that AUG.
