lonniejt
Rare - What makes it “rare”? Not cooked long enough? I think it was “cooked” long enough and if you look at the pictures closely, it will appear to be of the General Motors Guide Lamp variety…until you look closely at the Serial Number, which is an IRS Serial Number, “IRS4740A”. The Manufacturer was listed as “Unknown”. Not sure of the history of this SMG, but most probably was involved in a crime somewhere and the serial number was ground off, then someone decided to “register” the SMG. Just my speculation. Maybe you can find out more on this fine gun. I am offering this M3 Grease Gun and two magazines for $40,000.00 or Best Offer. These guns have really been going up in value and there are not that many as I understand on the NFRTR. I believe that I am “low market” on this one. JeffM
My guess is that your gun was amnestry registered in 1968. The ATF was part of the IRS prior to 1972. It looks like the original serial number was 4740, the IRS prefix was added and the A suffix was also added. I've got a couple of items that have an IRS prefix on them. lonniejt
Jeff - Thanks! I learn something every day, and that makes sense. I thought of the Amnesty Registration, but I thought the original serial number was used. The ATF is still part of the Treasury System, as is the IRS....dog gone "revenures"!!! Thanks again for your input, Lonnie Joe of CFE LLC
lonniejt
OK, looks like I have an early General Motors Guide Lamp M3 Greaser that is Amnesty Registered. Need some funds to repair all the "stuff" that I tore up on the Farm in 2024. I could do a trade plus cash on something of interest. I like Mini Uzi, full size Uzi, obviously Greasers, but no belt feds. Anybody got a good motor for a 1980 John Deere Track-how Model 490? It's a 4 Cylinder Diesel. $40K is below market for this particular gun. One of my friends on this board just sold his for $43K. I know there has to be some folks here that did not get what they wanted for Christmas...how bout a Present to Yourself?
