The 1919A4 safety block is based on the dimensions found on the 1919 forum, but I shortened it a 1/2" on the length of the square block end so it fits down in the receiver better. These were originally used by the military in some capacity on ranges. Today they function as a useful safety tool to hold the bolt open, show everyone your gun is safe, and maybe allow air to flow through the barrel and cool it. You can stick the 1919 block in either way, depending on which side of the equator you live on or which way you think looks better.

I have tested the semi MG42 / BRP XMG safety block in the semi guns I have. I imagine it will also work in another design of semi MG34 but I don't have one to check. I got this idea from BRP, credit to him. Something like this was originally furnished with the XMG but mine didn't come with one. So I made one and found it very useful, not just as a safety item but also as a loading assist tool.

I have found the MG42 safety block to be really useful. I use it all the time. It makes loading the gun smoother. I pull the charging handle back with my right hand and I insert the block through the ejection port with my left hand. Then I can use both hands to load a belt, fiddle with the top cover, etc. When you pull the bolt back to charge the gun, the block falls out on its own and you can then let the bolt go home. Same with the XMG.
