Zohan
This lower is not a A2 M16 it seems like it started out as a M16 and A2 was added later.

They’re all like that where it looks like the designations and other text was added after the fact because it wasn’t all added at once. 8 million serial number series is M16A2
MPFiveO
Not trying to turn this into a discussion thread, but one should do diligent research before posting a video a guy made using semi auto rifles built from parts kits to point out the differences between the M16A1 and M16A2. One could start with the five part article written by Dan Shea in Small Arms Review magazine which used Reed Knight's collection as a reference. The Colt M16A2 for sale is an export Model 703. Colt routinely used A1 and A2 lower receiver forgings as well as C7 style uppers to build M16A2 rifles and carbines on export models. There were many models with many variations and as always, with Colt never say never. The A2 specs were not all inclusive. The basis of the A2 was the change from the old 1/12 rifling twist rate to the new 1/7 for the newly adopted SS109/M855 round. The Marines wanted the target sights, burst fire control and some of the other features that were put into the A2 package that they adopted in 1983 and the Army reluctantly adopted in 1986. While our A2's had reinforced lowers it was not a requirement for export rifles and Colt had a bunch of A1 forgings to use up. Lots of the export rifles were obtained by dealers before the 1986 ban on civilian ownership. At the time no one really paid much attention to minor details like the receiver reinforcements. Over the years collectors started to take notes on the variations. Today you have a bunch of guys posting videos and regurgitating information they heard in another video. Few if any of these people have ever even had their hands on a registered M16 machine gun, much less dozens of them. The above rifle is a factory roll marked M16A2 that used an M16A1 lower receiver forging. Whatever contract it was made for specified full auto fire control components, so that's what Colt installed. The receiver contours and mode of fire are irrelevant to the markings because it was built to be delivered to a foreign military or law enforcement agency. Neither Colt nor the receiving entity cared about details that collectors would be discussing thirty years later. If you really want to go down a rabbit hole, see if you can figure out how many Colt M16A2's were remarked. They're in the 8 million range with A2 lower receiver forgings and were in the 2-3000 range. Colt actually ground off whatever markings were in the receiver and remarked them as M16A2 rifles. I've seen about a half dozen in this range including mine. I also know someone who has a Colt SP1 rifle that was remarked in the same manner. So, Colt apparently didn't want to waste a mismarked lower and had no issue with just grinding them off and stamping them again. Hopefully this will help clear up any misconceptions or misunderstandings. StevieP
Just to reinforce/add to the topic, my A2 is in the 8,000,20XX range, is burst marked, has light roll marks and has all the A2 reinforcements…
