Shotgun & Choke Questions??

Recommended Posts

Shooting without a choke tube in place is guaranteed to crud up the threads

As for the modified choke a modified may or may not be OK from a safety standpoint but probably will negatively affect the accuracy.  Spend $25 and buy a cylinder (.730") or skeet (.725") tube, it's what the slugs are intended to be used with

When I cut down my 870 to 14", I threaded the barrel for tubes and use a rifled tube for slugs,(Remington 1oz). Incredibly accurate with the factory iron sights.

I was going to suggest a rifled choke tube, but you beat me to it.  I hear that they're amazingly accurate for what they are.
