Chasingprecision
On an AR15 SBR the ATF would not allow Multi Caliber on the form, they would only allow a specific caliber. How can another caliber or two be added and accepted?
SGT Fish
Unless it's a permanent swap, you just don't change anything on the paperwork. If it's a permanent change (like maybe on an AK) then you can send a letter to the ATF informing them of the change.

I thought it was like the HK sears, if the caliber on the form was 9mm it could not be used in a .223 or .308. On the form 4's they have multiple calibers listed 9mm, 223, 308. This is why I wanted to clarify if I put a 9mm upper, 300 blackout etc on the SBR and has .223 on the form 4 as the caliber if I get checked at the range for paperwork what would be needed? ATF determined years ago to allow only 1 caliber in box 4C for all new NFA registrations (new builds & transfers). With regard to HK sears (and RDIAS') specifically, it was initially allowing 1 caliber after this change, and then sometime later ATF allowed (or preferred?) "N/A" in box 4C. ATF did not make this change to prohibit use of more than one caliber, but to simplify the information in the Form boxes. SGT Fish was correct in his response. There is no prohibition on caliber change for a system like the AR15/M16 (or moveable HK sear) where caliber change can be simple and transient. On something like an AK47, where a caliber change would be semi permanent, then you might consider contacting ATF in writing regarding such a change. If you really feel you must have additional calibers on your Form, then list those additional calibers down in box 4H...that is the area of the form for "additional description."

Thanks that makes sense, I wanted to be sure before I did anything

Tell them that they need to be an official treasury agent to check your paperwork.
Abbey
Sorry for the late question but didn’t think this warranted a dedicated post. I’m looking at an HK sear where the current box 4c has 3 calibers listed. Is the current recommendation to replace that with h “NA”, or to just pick one primary caliber (e.g. “9mm” since an MP5 will be the primary host)? My main concern is preventing delays in the paperwork.
trosupp
Some really good info, if i ever had to change a caliber it will have to be a permanent swap.
