BORE Shohola PA
Advertising for my friend. Up for sale is a Fully Transferable , C&R / Curios & Relics eligible , Form 4 (or Form 3 to a SOT ) Super Rare Colt Model 639. This Model is exact copy of the US Property version of the Colt Model 629 / Commando , which was classified by the US military as the XM177E2 and issued to MACV SOG special operations units in 1967 and 1968 in Vietnam . The Colt Model 629 / 639 has an 11.5 inch barrel with a Colt installed, small muzzle device / moderator , which served to change the signature of its firing to sound much more like an AK type rifle than an M16 and also trap gas to make the short barrel fire flawlessly . This Original Colt Select Fire Machine Gun is in near mint condition and has 100% of it's original Colt parts in it , including the Colt two position coated aluminum collapsing stock. It is in perfect working order. It has been test fired. The bore it minty. This is the iconic weapon of US special forces in Vietnam. Only about 100 of the Model 639 were made in late 1971 ( Date from the ser # 4,701,901 to 4,844,440 M16A1 lot they were pulled from in 1971 ) , but most of them were sent back to Colt in 1975 under a recall because the ATF decided to classify the muzzle device / moderator as a " silencer " , prompting Colt to recall the guns and remove and destroy the devices. The Ser# is in the correct block for the model 639. Only a few owners, kept their carbines intact and registered the muzzle devices, allowing them legally remain on the guns. Experts estimate that less the 20 or the 100 still exist in their original configuration in the USA. This is one of them. The Machine gun and Silencer both have matching Ser #s ( SU for the silencer ) as they should be . I have copies of the guns history of the form 4's going back the the 70s . This is a text book , perfect Colt 639 that can not be upgraded.. See all the pictures for details . If you live in PA, I will transfer them directly to you. Note, if sold on a form 4 you will have to pay the fee for 2 tax stamps . Please write with any Questions . Asking price $61.5K . Shipping & insurance must be discussed. Offers will be considered. Please know your states laws before bidding.. I Will ship to California and deal with the Calf. DOJ paperwork , if allowed.
