When something of mine breaks Yes I try to find a replacement but if I can't or if the price is out of site than I make it. No, I am not a machinist but most stuff just is not that hard to do. Now before you say something about safety, I would never do something that would hurt someone. Yes, some parts are hardened. But really if you can't make something most machine shops can. But I see people go nuts over a stripped bolt or broken firing pin.
