  • BRMCII changed the title to WTS: Vickers .303; LOL! You guys complain.......

I wouldnt mind buying a Vickers ...as I have a stash of 303 on hand and own a Hotchkiss and a Lewis - both in 303.

My hang up is the lack of a mount and the smooth green barrel housing...gotta be ribbed for that classic look!

otherwise...I'd prob buy it.

You asked (kinda) so I'm replying with my own answer as a prospective buyer ( not a tire kicker)

I agree completely the ribbed WW1 jackets are more pleasing to the eye...however, the smooth jackets are actually made from heavier gauge material.

The Vickers is the easiest beltfed ever to convert to 54r for plentiful ammo, better belts(PKM) and belt loader(PKM).

WRT mounts, the Vickers will also interface with the same mounts as BMGs or the 1910 Maxim, but Vickers mounts are out there nonetheless

The Vickers is my favorite water-cooled beltfed...I have (2).  They're lighter than all the others except for the 08/15, making it a bit easier to pick up and haul around at the range.

If you like your Hotchkiss & Lewis, you'd love the toggle-lock Vickers.  There IS a reason the Brits fielded this gun from 1914 till 1968

IMO, this gun would be perfect for that person who wants to run belts and make steam at a discount price...

^ great points. Thanks for the insight.
and interestingly ..I do have a diminishing (once large ) stash of 54R that I shoot in my 1919…so either 54R or .303 is fine.

i do need a vickers. I love a reliable beltfed.
i have never owned a water cooled one- always been curiously intrigued by them though.

one day. I’ll come across the right one at the right price w the right accessories. Maybe I should give up the ribbed jacket- and I guess I could for a price. I dunno.

This one obviously has gotten my attn. I’m thinking about it. Dang -I have too many MGs to babysit already. Too many different systems to learn and maintain. Too many accessories. Too much CRAP! Hah. I’m the equivalent of the old cat lady in a small apt living alone …with 45 cats. Except for its MGs as my addiction. I need professional help. I’ve stated probably a dozen times over a dozen yrs now “ This is my last Mg”. And yet I don’t think I’ve ever had a single day of my life since 2008’ish when I wasn’t waiting on a F4 approval. It’s a frikkin disease I tell you.
