WTS....Colt M16A1 MFG 1978-1980 EFORM 3

Recommended Posts

Just curious: Did some Colt M16’s - as the receiver is marked - come with the forward assist upper? Perhaps dependent on the serial number range of some of the guns coming out of the Colt factory at some particular time? The finish on the upper on the gun does not look quite matching to the finish on the lower.

All of them post 1968 are m16a1’s. Colt just used the term “m16” for their commercial and export line before updating it to “m16a1” around 1981. It’s just a roll stamp update, nothing with the weapon. Yes the upper has a grayish finish, just what they had on hand I suppose. Not uncommon, I’ve seen others like it.
