  1. They are still at it. Tried to play with "Cheryl Abernathy" of Terre Haute for a bit yesterday.
  2. As expected, they were very upbeat about it. It was also fun to hear the young lady at the table with her British accent extolling the 2A amendment virtues of the device to the crowd in Kentucky. A little surreal. They were making a lot of chips! One of the interesting things they talked about was the need to run the lowers in the white. Apparently, the anodizing process is inconsistent enough so that surface thickness of the finish will affect tolerance of the device, producing less than ideal results.
  3. The Ghostgunner was on display at the recent Knob Creek. The folks at their table had said that it was more like $1800. Of note is that the average run time to finish an 80% receiver is around two hours. It was pretty cool looking.
  4. How many people are actively working toward processing NFA Forms? A lot! At the present time: - 26 Legal Instruments Examiners - 8 Specialists - 12 Research Assistants - 10 IOI's rotating in and out from various sources to assist. That's as many as 46 bodies at any given time. Current submission rate is in excess of 12,000 NFA forms per week and there are recent spikes as high as 18,000 per week. Current backlog is just below 59,000 forms. This backlog number continues to fluctuate.
  5. The last time we got a transferable number was ~10 years ago. The number, then, was just over 186k. We're losing a lot of guns.
  6. The NFATCA filed a FOIA request in 2014 in order to ascertain an updated count of registered machine guns in the NFRTR. The initial FOIA request was rejected. The NFATCA appealed and acknowledged that because of the disparate record types, we understood that a margin of error might exist. DOJ/ATF has acted on our appeal and delivered on their promise to provide the statistics. As of February 24, 2016: Pre '86: 175,977 Sales Samples: 17,020 Restricted 922(o) ("posties"): 297,667 From ATF: "Please note that ATF utilizes customized Standard Query Language (SQL) to collect information from system databases. In the instant case, an SQL query may not capture all methods in which the requested information has been manually entered into system data fields. Thus, while each individual record is accurate, there is an inherent albeith wholly unintentional margin of error as to the aggregate statistical information requested."
  7. Going to need a DSP73 to be filed with State's DDTC. That's is for the temporary export of a sporting firearm. Since suppressors are not specifically named as part of the sporting arms class, you will likely get rebuffed. Gonna be a lot of paperwork and slight chance of success.
