Respectively is that a typo, 35,000 for a premay sample MP5?

Out of curiosity what Dewats do you have? Stuff that hasn’t already been reactivated is getting hard to find.

Unfortunately you would require a letter, only 07/02’s and 08/01’s (and their DD counterparts) can.

If they’re an FFL/SOT it *could* be on a form 3 if it is in their inventory ready to transfer to your local dealer. otherwise it would transfer out on a form 4 to your local dealer. Regardless if your not a FFL/SOT yourself, it will transfer to you on a form 4 unless it’s a dewat in which case it would be a form 5.

I can’t speak to the value, but if it’s an authentic gun that’s barrel has just been welded shut and there’s no dewat papers it’s an unregistered MG (even then you should have a lawyer contact ATF and see if they have anything in there system). If they can’t find anything, your options are A. The obvious option for legal reasons I can’t recommend. B. Pull everything but the receiver and torch the receiver. Or C. I may have two local governmental museums that would probably be interested in taking it via a form 10. (It which case it might even be shot once a year at it’s yearly drill). With regards-Mathew

Was that the date ATF signed the form 2, or the date it was submitted? I’d have to go back and see if the rules were the same back in 1986 as they are now. But importers (I am one) have 15 days to submit a form 2 after release from customs. Unfortunately I think ATF is right that the ban applies to May 19th and beyond. 922 O says the following (o) (1) Except as provided in paragraph (2), it shall be unlawful for any person to transfer or possess a machinegun. (2)This subsection does not apply with respect to— (A) a transfer to or by, or possession by or under the authority of, the United States or any department or agency thereof or a State,or a department, agency, or political subdivision thereof; or (B) any lawful transfer or lawful possession of a machinegun that was lawfully possessed before the date this subsection takes effect. However if that was the day ATF approved it, or if it was released from customs the day before (May 18th)I would say it was lawfully in possession before May 19th even if the form 2 wasn’t submitted yet. I bought a 60mm from Marshall in 2020, it was spectacular. That said he does take a while as he’s got such a backlog. Last time I talked to him, he said he was working 70-80 hour weeks.

At 15 (more likely 16) you have a good chance of getting both a Tube Sten Mk2 gun and a Reising at that price (I’ve got both in my personal collection). (Keep in mind up until the last 10-15 years they were tied as the cheapest transferable’s out there, so at 1,000-1,500 dollars for a virgin tube it didn’t matter to bubba using a dermal putting it together in his garage) But almost everything wrong with it is fixable by a competent gunsmith that’s worked on sten’s before, and the caliber can be changed to 7.62x25. All that being said, if your looking for modularity, at your price point Mac’s are the way to go.
