  1. I have always been the owner of the board (since May of 1999) - I stepped up when Vollmer was shutting down, conceived of and bought the domain, setup the original scripts, designed the site, ran it from a spare server at work, and helped moderate and deal with things on a regular basis till about 2004 (back then we also had Grant Janssen helping out as well, for those of you tracking Sturmgewehr.com history). After years of my brother and I paying for it (with the help of donations, but many times out of pocket - which could be money for a new gun, or one of our children's educations), it was decided that the board should be taken commercial, as that was the only way to ensure its survival (a lot has changed in the last 15+ years - new software and features are required, and that costs money). As to the question about Buddy, he is still here and is applying his years of internet gun site info to helping weed out scammers behind the scenes, while enjoying a much deserved vacation from the day to day runnings of the site. In the case of ftldrben, taking this site commercial is what will preserve your years of purchases, etc... With the old board format, there really was nothing keeping Joe Bloe from posting "I want to donate my NFA items to the Obama Presidential Museum" as your username - especially if he was in the Florida area as your screen name suggests (so his IP would come from a Florida ISP) - the concept of username HiJacking had become a problem. With the new site, via the registration process, users can stake out their name, and build or maintain their reputation. So you ask the question of how do you get that all back -- well there was never a tracking system to begin with - only your screen name - which you can still have (I assume that you registered under the alias you were using on the old site). Rank wise, we have X number of users who used the old site with zero registration - we had to bring everybody in at a starting point (Seaman), but if you think to the old site, there were no "user levels", so that really hasn't changed. As the new membership levels are finalized, you will be able to upgrade your existing membership as a non-commercial user, for what will honestly amounts to a few magazine dumps at the range. Change can be hard, but in this case, it is for the better.. The new sturmgewehr.com site offers a lot more features (image hosting for advanced levels - which was a problem for many, registered names, an editor that shows you the formatting as you edit, etc) and goes a long way towards ensuring that it doesn't fall towards the wayside, or simply become irrelevant.

  2. WELL, this is a formal THANK YOU to all the people that made these past couple years on STURM one of the high points of my life. I did my best to relay my actual hands on use of this stuff in a way that allowed one to make their own decision without any hearsay or rumor involved. last week the DR's shared their hands on about my condition and what we all know is coming is very near in my case. I will continue to view the board and answer what I can as long as I am able, but not as active as the past. I prey that all the socialist scum bags are rejected this November and you will be able to relax for at least another 4 yrs or more. IF NOT, USE YOUR HEADS AND KICK THE BASTARD'S OUT ! KEEP AS MUCH AS YOU CAN ! MAKE IT FUN! CHEERS MIKE TODD !

  4. Funny you should ask. This was how a belt fed, water cooled, full auto, 1928 Colt machine gun was sent to me. This piece of cardboard was taped to a wooden chest that contained the weapon. I'll kept this piece of cardboard for posterity. How could I not.

  5. For the first 16 1/2 years after launching Sturmgewehr.com in June, 1999, the website looked almost exactly the same. Except for the 3 different website icons, and some minor background software updates that were available while the legacy software remained supported, the site appeared the same as it did on the first day it was launched. We kept the old format much longer than expected. Sturmgewehr.com was founded to carry on the tradition of the FJ Vollmer site - to provide a place for folks to buy/sell/talk about guns in a lively but friendly atmosphere. The internet has changed a bit since those days, so everybody has had to become a little more hardened and cautious, but we remember our roots. We want to return to them as much as we can, leveraging powerful new capability that a board software like this one can provide. Sturm launched immediately upon the closure of the Vollmer site, and it remains extremely well known in the firearm community, and ubiquitous to the NFA community. We hope you will like and explore the new capabilities. Many of you may already be familiar with this type of format, particularly if you are a member of our sister board, Machinegunboards.com. MGBoard members will be able to log in to Sturm using their existing credentials. There's more to come in the transition, but the immediate change you will notice is that it's easier to post with pictures, and that you must use a member login to post. If you stopped frequenting Sturmgewehr.com in the past, we hope you will take a fresh look. It looks a little different, but we are confident that in short time, it will become a welcomed change. New and easier rules have been posted. We now have one advertising banner that will be available for up to 5 Admiral level supporters. This is necessary to help support the site. As the new board progresses, we will post updates, and tutorials that will help everyone become more familiar with the additional features. Welcome to the New Sturmgewehr.com Forums! 6. Bottom line, it is not a good idea to post your e-mail address in a reply to an ad. Here are some reasons: It signals your intent to a potential scammer - They know exactly what you want, and where to send you their request for payment They may appear to have a similar address to the person who posted the ad...Just think about how easy it is to get a free, customized e-mail address - This can be done anywhere in the world It's poor etiquette...You should be reaching out to the seller, not asking them to contact you You should contact the seller using the PM feature, or through their e-mail address directly, without posting your e-mail in a reply to their original ad for all to see A buyer should always speak to the seller. Vet them out. Be appropriately cautious before you send out hundreds, or thousands of dollars. Never wire money...Never, ever. Do not send funds via Moneygram. Once you speak to the person, and are comfortable that they do not appear to be a scammer, check their address and contact information. Check their FFL address against the ATF database. Check their address on Google Street View, and see if it appears valid. Visit them, and see the gun in person, especially if it's very expensive. If the deal is too good, or anything doesn't feel right, walk away. Don't get greedy. If the deal is too good, there's a problem. David Albert dalbert@sturmgewehr.com

  8. Stembridge Gun Rentals was THEE firearms supplier for Hollywood from 1920 until 2007.... Nearly every movie with firearms in it was supplied by Stembridge (more info in the link below) .... They had 8 total transferable Saco Defense M60s in their inventory.... 5 Standard configuration guns and 3 M60e3s .... All ordered directly from Saco Defense, who was the military supplier at the time... All of the Rambo films, Chuck Norris movies, and other iconic war films had these M60s in them .... With that being said, all of the 10,000 plus Stembridge Guns were sold... So some collector/s out there own their M60s right now... I have two of the original Saco Defense boxes for these Stembridge guns... They still have all the original packing material in them along with Sling, Oil Bottle, Barrel Cork, and Heat mittens.... I am working on getting the list of films these specific two guns were used in and also the serial numbers for the guns that came in these two boxes. The original label still has the Order number on it. Do you own a former Stembridge M60? If so, shoot me an email... I may have your original box. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stembridge_Gun_Rentals Aaron - Mohnton, Pa Sales@BeltFeds.Com

  9. I wanted to make a post about this in the event that it is helpful to others..... Whenever we have customers ship us transferable Machine Guns, we always suggest that they stick an Apple Air Tag in the receiver prior to shipping it.... Obviously this gives you, the owner, the ability to see exactly where your very expensive investment is at all times..... Currently we have 3 transferable M60s coming in for inspection and repair. Shipped USPS registered mail insured for 80,000 ... Despite the registered mail and high insurance, tracking for one of the guns has not been updated since the first scan last week. Tracking is showing that it is still in Washington State, despite that it is supposed to be delivered today. The owner who shipped it was able to check his air tag location to see that it is currently in Harrisburg, PA... Which is the last stop before it gets delivered here. The Air Tag also gives you some leverage if your package is not delivered and a period of time passes, or it is declared lost. You are able to contact the postal service and tell them EXACTLY where the package is. As opposed to them contacting the last known scan origin and having them check there for it (it is never there in my experience). Again, just sharing this information in the event that it may be helpful to others. Photo of an Air Tag Below for reference. They are cheap and worth getting to keep track of your expensive guns. 13. In fairness, the President and Congress do not set postal rate - that is done by the Postal Regulatory Commission. Currently is is 2 Republicans (appointed by Trump), 2 Democrats (1 Biden and 1 Obama appointee) and the last seat was just filled by a Biden Appointee, awaiting Senate approval - who is a Republican. BTW the Chairman (Democrat) was twice approved by the Senate with a unanimous vote. When this temporary rate increase was approved, the board was also 3R and 2D Also, the Post Office has temporarily raised rates during holiday times in 2019, 2020, 2021. So this is not a new thing - it is to cover increased costs. At least the Post office has not taken anti-gun measures like the recent ones enacted by the 2 big private shippers (brown and purple) Personally, I have had the best service and the fewest problems shipping guns with USPS versus the competition. In any case, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

  17. Agree with the M-16, but you got to get "In the Game" A good friend told me long ago, he wanted an MP-5. They were around $5k, by the time he saved enough, they were $8k, by the time he saved that, they were $12k, and so on. He sadly never got the HK. I would get in the game, MAC or otherwise, so maybe your investment will keep up with the inflation until you can save a little more. Just my 2 cents.

  21. Mr. Logan, The information you posted is completely inaccurate, so I will correct your statements with the information below. The flash hiders that we machined in our shop were made for, and advertised for, the 25mm MLe 1934 Hotchkiss anti-tank gun. They were an exact dimensional copy, machined within a tolerance of +/- .005" of the original flash hider (we had an original example on hand to replicate). We made a run of 12 flash hiders, two of which were for two guns that we had in inventory at that time, and 10 were sold individually. All 10 of the flash hiders that we sold were test fit to both of our MLe 1934 guns before they were shipped to customers, so we could guarantee fitment. You responded to our ad on Sturmgewehr on 10/22/12 and told us that "I will take one". You then contacted us the following day on 10/23/12 and wanted to know if our MLe 1934 Hotchkiss flash hider would screw on to your MLe 1937 Puteaux gun barrel. I told you "it should", but since I didn't have a Puteaux on hand at the time, I couldn't test fit it to be sure. I told you we would be happy to ship it to you, you could try it, and if it didn't work, we'd refund your purchase. You made the purchase on 10/24/12, and we shipped the flash hider to you via UPS Ground. You then contacted us on 10/29/12 letting us know that the Hotchkiss flash hider did not fit on your Puteaux gun, and you asked to return it for a refund. I personally responded the same day, on the 29th, with the following message: "Hello Charlie, sorry to hear it didn't fit........I appreciate the feedback. Ship it back to us at the address below and we'll refund the purchase & shipping to your card. Let me know what the return shipping cost was, and I'll refund that as well. Thanks, Marshall" You did not ship the flash hider back to us until 9 days later on 11/7/12. We received the flash hider back at 4:17pm on Friday, November 9th, 2012. I emailed you that weekend with the following message: "Hello Charlie, the flash hider made it back okay. We will process your credit card refund when we are back in the office on Tuesday. Regards, Marshall" On 11/12/12 you emailed our office to let us know the amount of your return shipping cost, so we could refund that to you as well. We attempted to refund the card twice over the following several days, both of which were declined by Authorize.net. Then, on the 20th, it came to light that you were wanting the refund on a different card than what the original purchase was made on, which the system will not allow. At that point you told our office to go ahead and just send you a check, which we did that day, on 11/20/12, in the amount of $639.86, check number 2376. We also advised your office the same day that the check was sent out. I know it's been 7 years since this transaction occurred, but we keep all communications and records for every single transaction that we've done over the past 15 years. You should really get your facts straight before posting false information on a public forum. -Marshall Morgan

  22. Posting some information that may be helpful to those who own M60s and experience this failure.... We currently have an M60 in on repair with this exact issue, so I took some photos and video going over the work as we did it... This should help understand why this happens and just how in depth the repair is. Aaron - Mohnton, Pa Sales@BeltFeds.Com A nice M60e6... Customer was shooting and the bolt locked solid in the chamber. We were able to see that the round had been expended and the cartridge was empty: The first step we take to free this up is shown in the video below from our YouTube channel. In this specific case, it was ineffective and the bolt did not budge even a hair.. It should be noted, that you should ensure there is not a live round in the gun when you are doing this. After exhausting our efforts, we determine that the only course of action to free this up is to cut the bolt in half. This is complicated to do while the bolt is in the receiver. These heat treated bolts just kill end mills. We cut this in a specific way that prevents any damaging from occurring to the operating rod: Once the bolt is complete cut in two, we are able to pull the barrel out of the front. The most common cause of this is extractors getting blown out of their pocket, which prevents the bolt from camming out.... We can see here that this was the case for this gun. NOTHING would have gotten this free. When the bolt is fully seated in the chamber the extractor is facing down so it is completely inaccessible. The culprit.... Lake City 08 (I still think it may be a reload) ... You can see the back end of the casing is blown out. Below is a video going over the removal of this bolt and the casing. In this specific instance, the casing didn't full seat. It appears as though it bulged at the bottom preventing it from doing so (possibly a reloaded round that was resized and messed up?). The caseing blasted out of the rear side which in turn blew the extractor out of the bolt. Here is another video of a repair we did with the same issue. Just for a different view point etc:

  23. I was asked to consider pinning a list of FFLs willing to accept Title 1 firearms resulting from ad sales on this site, and/or others. If you are an FFL holder who would like your information made available for non-FFLs to receive firearms for transfer to buyers in your area, please reply with your name and/or business name, state, town, and e-mail address, and I will begin to compile a list by state, and pin the post for future reference. Here's the latest list, 7/28/19: David Albert dalbert@sturmgewehr.com

  24. Short video covering the differences between Rock Island Armory and Saco Defense M60s. These two manufactures are the most common and account for the largest numbers of M60s in the registry......Historically, and still today, Saco Defense M60s command about $10,000 more than RIA guns...The differences between the two guns is all in the receiver, being that RIA used all USGI parts (top covers, bolts, oprods, handguards etc etc) to assemble their guns.... It is important for perspective buyers to have accurate information on what those differences are.... In this video we go over a transferable RIA gun and Transferable Saco Gun side by side. 25. Why is this so hard to understand-does no one read before commenting-it is NOT a post sample as it was in the county before May 19, 1986 so it’s either a pre sample or transferable. Given what it stamped on the paperwork, both are pre samples. Good lord it’s not rocket science people….in the county prior to 1986 and says on the paper work “sales sample” those two points mean PRE SAMPLE.

  27. Unfortunately ...so true, which is why I generally avoid getting into gun discussions with the general public. I'm actually doing a project at a club range right now and a couple guys have asked me if I am a member, and I am not. Fortunately none of them ask why so far. They ban most of what I own or am interested in. Like most clubs, it's a mix of trapshooters, glocks, and AR shooters. There are some old timers with souped up .22's that are actually the best bunch I've met there, but I'd bet if I whipped out a Norrrell .22 with 50 round mags and played shoot out the star, they'd be unhappy?

  28. Wanted to share this with the group....A few years ago I started trying to develop a 7.62x51 Ammunition can that fits in a pack so there would be a supply for those wanting to make "Predator Packs"..mainly because there is ZERO availability for such cans right now.... Finally got the prototype done today. I contracted out to an aerospace company to make them. The box itself is made from Carbon Fiber and weighs only 3 pounds. It hold 400 rounds of 7.62x51 and another 100 rounds in the chute depending how long of feed chute your using. The feed Chute attachment point and all metal hardware is stainless steel. There is two dividers and also some guide ramps on the opening made from UHMW (ultra high molecular weight Polyethylene)... That material is super slick like soap... I hope to take this out in the coming weeks and torture test it to spot any weaknesses...Once testing is done I will be putting them in production and selling them here on the boards. All the tooling is made for them now so I should be able to crank them out. Aaron - Mohnton, Pa Sales@BeltFeds.Com

  29. Yep, that's anit-gun. It's America, you can choose to live in a craphole and by your own admission these people are prohibited persons, so the fact that they aren't already incarcerated for felon in possession, that is the the first problem. There is no need for raids, these guys can be picked off one by one as they move about the community. The cops in your area know who the bad actors are, but generally management or politicians make the poor decisions to let them roam free or order a drug raid while 8 armed people are grouped up in one place. Those are bad choices. You do know there are guys that enjoy the adrenaline rush of busting down doors and running in? My job is also adventurous and less safe statistically than law enforcement, but it's my passion and personal choice, just like theirs. An 80% lower to a guy with no cordless drill or tools is a monumental daylong project. A block of billet for a guy with a 5 axis machine in his garage is 10 minutes, the 80% lower....well it takes longer to fixture than to cut. The definition lies in the ability of the maker, not the object. Most AR-15's can be converted to full auto in less than 5 minutes? What do you propose to do about that? Ban all of them because the possibility exists for some people to violate the law? Or are you going to just arrest the people that do it? Laws apply to people's actions, and should not apply to inanimate objects. Most guys here have stacks of guns. The made up term "gun violence" implies guns are violent or those that have them are. How many guys here get scared when the get near a gun safe? When you guys used to go to the creek and there were scary guns nearly every inch, did you feel unsafe? Did you know a lot of those guns changed hands without background checks? And the murder rate for KCR over 35 years, or the murder rate on any given day of opening day deer season......yep ZERO? Can you cite any evidence that background checks or lack of them (for those that didn't bother) have any effect on the guns that were sold legally or illegally on the hundreds of thousands of people at those gatherings? And if you ran traces on all of those guns, how many do you think you'd find wound up at crime scenes, excluding the ones that may have been stolen from homes or bus. of attendees?

  31. Many people have said this. I think it will be busier than recent shows, but what will the attraction be to draw big crowds like 2007? Cheap ammo, nope. More MG parts, nope. Last chance blowout sales, nope. Guys shooting 30% more than they did last time, nope. I've enjoyed it a lot over the years and had some great "life experiences" there and will be there in fall but the reality of gun shows thriving is gone everywhere. Things have changed and as Kenny has pointed out, he's not any younger. Really about the only hope is that he sells out, someone takes it over and keeps it going? In over 20 years of going I've never been to a bad KCR show, all were good, some were stellar. A few had lousy weather, but some of the stuff I picked up over the years would not have been possible, nor offered anywhere else. There's been a knowledge base there under one roof that will never be replaced by any amount of keyboard typing or any website. It's a place where you could talk to real people that have actually done that, and maybe have one at the table to explain visually, or walk over a couple tables and find it. Where else can you "borrow" an M60 buttstock, because the guys with helicopter need to borrow an M60 to shoot, but you only brought your "D" gun setup. You walk down a few tables and the guy with the $45K M60 for sale pulls off the minty buttstock an loans it out for 24 hrs. without even knowing my last name. Those are the kind of people you meet at the Creek! Done typing but I could go on for pages about the people that attend/attended including the Gunny RIP

  32. Hello all - It pains me but I must move some of my personal collection to raise capital for a business venture. Some background - I owned a couple gun stores and an indoor range. I still have an FFL but these are out of my personal collection. Shipping is included in price and I can run it through the books if your FFL requires that firearms be shipped from an FFL. If you are looking for pristine, never touched firearms, stop reading here. I will do an honest job assessing the condition of each firearm and indicate it per the table below. These have all been handled and all fired unless otherwise noted. I will do my best in the pictures to point out any scratches or wear. I will be very upfront and send as many pictures as you want/need. That being said, I will not be uploading pictures of all of these. Please email me at the address below or PM on here and I will get back to you with pictures. I am not Amazon and am working so please be patient with me. Payment terms: Wire, Cashiers check, MO. I will ship within 2-3 days of getting payment and FFL info. All prices OBO. Trades: NO. Unless you happen to own a vineyard in Eola-Amity Hills, I am not looking for trades. Condition Ratings: Condition 5: As near to perfect as a firearm leaves the factory. Not fired by me, exceptional. Condition 4: Light handling wear is to be expected, fired but well taken care of. This is what most will be. Condition 3: Moderate handling wear, fired, anything drastic pointed out in pictures. Serviceable otherwise Condition 2: Moderate to severe wear in areas, serviceable but needs maintenance and potential wear parts changes. Condition 1: Unserviceable. Needs repairs, extensive wear. 33. The STEn is a surprisingly good gun. It's as basic as they come. A good gun for new shooters as it is easy to shoot well, reliable with good mags, and uncomplicated. It can be customized easily with lots of stock, barrel, suppressor, and other options. As mentioned, parts are easy to find and relatively inexpensive. You will find that the gun will need very little in the way of replacement parts. It's weakness is the magazine. Fortunately, magazines are still relatively inexpensive and easy to find. Believe it or not, I have seen a lot of magazines discarded as unreliable that were simply dirty or full of cosmoline. Feed lip angle issues are easy to spot and fix. Magazines with the brass wires limiting capacity are easy to change back to full capacity and usually less expensive than the others. Semi-auto trip levers are prone to bending as they are simple sheet metal. Most folks don't bother using semi-auto as it is very easy to get single shots with a little trigger control. Most STEns have a hole on the left side of the receiver that allows the bolt handle to be pushed in and lock the bolt forward. This is a safety feature to keep the bolt from bouncing backwards (and firing) if the gun is dropped with a loaded magazine inserted. Do NOT hold it by the magazine well like they do in the movies. This can induce stoppages from magazine movement as well as inaccuracy from lateral dispersion. The barrel shroud is there for a reason. There are several options for magazine loaders. My favorite is the simple 'spoon' style that clips on the back of the mag. Easy to use and gives good leverage to push down each round. Regardless of the type you choose, be sure to get one. Magazines are very difficult to fully load without one.

  34. Afternoon gents. I've been offline for a while. Still suffering a bit after losing my friend Mike Todd. Really took the wind out of my sails. On top of that I just got news I must start IV treatments again at the cancer clinic here in Maine, so my mood has been a little dark here lately. Weather ain't helping much either. On a bright side. I want to thank everyone that has offered to help me out with .22 ammo . I was really shocked to see offers coming in from strangers that don't even know me. I was just sharing my experience, nothing more. I never expected this. I knew we always had some of the best people here on Sturm, but these generous offers just humbled me to the point of tears. I'm not going to compromise the privacy of these generous folks by using names, but I want you to know I really appreciate the offers to help me out. I've never been on a gun board that has the quality of people this board has. Sturm is an amazing place. Thank you David, Andy, fellow board members.. R.L.

  37. So let me first start off by saying its about as easy to be a rocket surgeon as it was to get this transmission that shoots bullets working correctly. Dealer friend of mine bought it and was royally screwed up. Pretty sure it was built with hand drills. Safing Sector was out so with bolts installed rotor wouldn't turn. Holes for feeder/delinker completely out of spec one hole was .250 and other hole was .040 off. Specs of hole are .192+-.001. Welded up and remachined all the holes and correctly plotted the radius for the safing sector and gun is working fine. Minus the batteries going dead from not being charged when it was sent. For everyones viewing pleasure a new unfired M134 with Garwood parts and clutch system on a Crane mount.

  38. I have been chasing down this dream for some time. It appeared I had it by the tail but some things have come up and I just can't make it happen right now. So I am giving my Sturmgewehr family first shot at this. It is not listed anywhere else yet.. This is a UH-1B Huey Gunship... It is complete minus T-53 Turbine Engine. It is not in flyable condition. This Aircraft was made in 1962 in Ft. Worth Texas for the US Army. Serial Number 62-1931.. It has the heavy duty tail boom on it. This aircraft last flew in 1989 for a forestry service. It was assigned N number N91284. This iconic Gunship was built and put on this earth for one reason..To kill people... and occasional transport.. so 2 reasons maybe.... This is a military surplus aircraft that ended up in civilian hands. It is perfectly legal to own. Would be great for a museum or in your out building. It is truely a sight to see. Most importantly it is a Warbird and nearly impossible to find. Soon enough these will cease to exist in civilian hands... This can be transported on a low boy trailer. Or there are several companies that will pick it up and deliver it directly to your door. No logs or data plates. Unknown times on the components. $40,000 Aaron - Mohnton, Pa Sales@BeltFeds.Com ** This is an excellent video of these gunships in action in Vietnam **

  39. The way I see it, you're Both passionate about guns for dissimilar, yet equally valid, reasons and with diametrically opposed philosophies regarding life in general. But that's OK - you're both "Gun Guys" and on the Correct side of the line… It's quite easy to get angry and attack one another over the internet but I'd wager that face-to-face you'd rapidly become friends. Never forget that it is All of Us against the endless Legions of Kommies, NATO, EU, Hill-Billary Klinton and Barack Obama bin Laden. We Must support and look out for one another Not go after each other... So why don't you Both just agree to respect such differing opinions, "shake hands" and continue to pursue your passions as you each deem fit? No egregious acts have been committed and I believe we've All learned something from this thread in order that the end result could be best described as: Good.

  40. Manufacture information added to clarify the rewat statues. I have several customers interested in purchasing an MG42, but not without proof of date and form of original registration to confirm its C+R status. Contrary to the smug and dismissive comments above, not all MG42s are C+R just because they are included on the C+R list. MG42s remanufactured and registered between the end of the '68 Amnesty and May 19, 1986 are not C+R eligible and there are quite a few of those. If ATF allows it, and it is up to them, remanufactured MGs will begin to be eligible for C+R status in Dec. 2018 as that is 50 years past the date of the new rules for remanufacture and registration for private possession, starting in Dec of 1968. Fifty years after the last date allowed to register a new MG for private possession, which was May 19, 1986, theoretically all MGs will be C+R. My comments about MG42s falsely registered as C+R between '68 and '86 seems to cynically amuse the above posters, and they are entitled to be wrong and ignorant since it is not their money. I have helped broker half a dozen 42s in the last fifteen years or more that were allegedly C+R but not confirmed by ATF when the date and form of original registration were provided. All had dates of original registration in the late seventies and early eighties and were never cut and welded prior to registration as required by law. And there a m ore of them out there. They were passed off as C+R, but are illegal registrations and are worth a lot less than verified C+R guns. Buyers need to know this before shelling out tens of thousands of dollars. There are lots of other MGs that have been processed the same way and I keep track of the ones I hear about or come through my shop. No buyer is going to spend the money currently asked for MG42s without proof of original date and form of registration confirming that it is correctly registered if presented as C+R as well as proof that all the parts are correct vintage WWII; proof that the trunnion is not cracked, chipped or broken or a post-war replacement; proof that the rivets are tight and there are no cracks in shroud webbing or around barrel bearing; proof that it hasn't been reblued. No proof, no sale. Many buyers looking for MG42s contact me for help in trying to assess the guns offered, and several have contacted me about this gun. I tell them to confirm, confirm, confirm. I've owned, brokered, repaired, built, handled hundreds of MG42s over the last forty years. MGs are my full time business. Bought my first DEWAT in 1956 and have been buying MGs every since.

  41. Deciding to sell off my machine guns was not an easy thing to do. My decision was made for me due to health reasons, so reluctantly I'm selling out. Thank you to those that gave my guns new homes. I hope you are able to enjoy them as I have, The bright side is now that it's come to pass, I'm realizing one of the most rewarding benefits of selling is talking with people from all walks of life, that patronize these boards and have interest in NFA. Thanks for the calls from those that wanted to talk NFA. Calls are so much more personal than emails. This truly is an amazing place, not just because of the guns. This community has a lot of really great folks and I'm proud to have been a part of it over the years. Certainly the guns are the topic of discussion, but beyond the guns and all things related is the friendship you develop here. That I will miss. Talking with this many great people on one board , reaffirms my faith again in humanity. I've talked with some of the best people in the NFA community over the last month or so, right here, continue to do so and I'm enjoying this very much. It's time to move on with other things now. When you discover your expiration date in life, you will change the way you think about life too. Maybe. I have anyway. I have a wonderful wife now (after the last 3 not so wonderful), a new champion Presa Canario, that I enjoy training and spending time with and raising bees for the 4th year now. Thank you to everyone, Bob Leyshion, Jr. .
